Lucky us who opted for biking in Tuscany the spring of 2025 (end of May, beginning of June). We've contacted with Headwater (for the 3rd time using their planned biking tours), this time they partnered with Agriturismo La Pietriccia, in Chianciano Terme. Excellent choice! I will start with the hotel, the heartwarming feeling of a farmhouse, it reminds us of tradition. The Agriturismo La Pietriccia, a family run farm, counts with a very tunned team and collaborators, but 2 encounters were really the highlight: Stefano and Salman. Stefano is the motor engine of La Pietriccia, passionate, hardworker, joyful sense of humour, Stefano is everywhere hands on. Really a joy having the chance chatting with him. Stefano readily suggests or accommodates the bike route, if we ask him. Salman is always attentive, kind and steps to help. During our stay, La Pietriccia offered breakfast and dinner. The products come from ground zero, either grown on property or around Chianciano Terme. In the breakfast you find jams done in the property, no sugar added (my favourite, figs jam!). Dinner is served in 4 courses. Homemade menu, creative, health with seasonal products, and very generous portions. The room: very comfortable bed and pillow, with quality bed lining. Excellent shower, AC, and kitchen appliances. Outside you find your own chill out chair, to appreciate nature. Strolling around the property, is delightful way of renewing ourselves and charge our batteries. You can spot trees full of cherries, and raspberries, figs, plums to name some. Find the vegetables garden, and joy of see what you may have for dinner. The beauty of olive trees and wine trees facing the property, few steps from the historical Middle Ages buildings of old town of Chianciano Terme. La Pietriccia growns Trebbiano, Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti, Barbera and Sangiovese. In addition, the lovely trees of olives growing Endolino, the Leccino and Frantoio olives. We were provided with bikes, plan of self-guided tours around Chianciano and an App access to route us (yes babe, on our previous biking tours with Headwater, we had paper map. Now step into modern days, a cell phone App does the magic!). The routes took us to paved and gravel paths. The difficulty level is moderate. The overall feedback is of appreciation. The landscapes are postcard everywhere you turn. Nature exceeded on its best on this part of the world. Fauna and flora exuberant at this time of the year. Towns like Chianciano Terme, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Cetona, Pienza, Radicofani, Sarteano exhale history, culture, celebration of food and excellent wine (and the wine!), art. Strolling in and out the small alleys in the century towns was big part of our vacation. To Headwater: smart decision partnering with La Pietriccia. To La Pietriccia: will carry those days dearly. NB: I write highlighting on what I like, focusing on wonders of life and choose ignoring bits of unfavourable events. Way to go through in life: focus on good and positive!
