Went in december 2014 when I was travelling trough Japan. Very short walk from the train station and easy to find. Had a nice welcome from the staff and got a nice (western style) room on the top floor with good view of the harbor of Saiki. I didn't expect much because of the reviews here and because of the small town Saiki. But It was one of the best hotels i've slept in during my 3 week stay in Japan.

“Basic Rooms Amazing Japanese Breakfast”

My first of two nights here wasn't great with a very uncomfortable bed but the staff happily changed rooms for me for my second night and I had a much better nights sleep. The highlight was the Japanese breakfast - very authentic and Oishii!

I went for business and stayed for 3 nights. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. They serve coffee and tea at the lobby. The room was quite small although the big was big enough for two people and that lead me to have a good night sleep. It was cleaned everyday, so new towels and robes. They clean around 10-11am. The room has wifi and wired internet. If I am just going to say one negative thing about this hotel it's that I can't adjust the temperature of the AC. It just has "Low Med High" buttons and the high wasn't high enough for me. But I can deal with it. The hotel is close to a post and to the JR Saiki station (3 min walk). Overall, I would stay here again.

I used to stay at this hotel once a month for three years straight (work-related), so I've had plenty of time to really form an opinion on this place. During that three years (2011 - 2014), they had a pretty major renovation, modernizing things quite nicely. It's the biggest, nicest hotel you'll find in Saiki, but keep in mind, it's a pretty typical Japanese-style business hotel. That's a major point here people. It's a BUSINESS hotel! Not a resort hotel and not a spacious family-style hotel. Don't bring 6 bags of luggage and then complain when you realize there isn't enough room for your belongings. The staff were always very friendly here, including the ladies that clean the rooms. The ladies behind the check-in counter will even speak with you in basic English if you find yourself having a communication issue. I was always given the standard single room and yes, it's fairly small, but it's sizeable enough for one person, although I also think you'd be okay with another person if you came as a couple. There was never any problem with noise either, which is always a big deal-breaker for me when staying at a hotel. My biggest gripe with the rooms would be the bed though. I found the mattress to be a bit too firm and it was challenging for me to get to sleep. Also, they have these built in radios (in the bed frame), that are basically worthless because all they do is pump out static. I did enjoy the fact that they offer more television channels (then most business hotels), with a nice selection of English programs. D-life! Hotel Kinsuien wasn't so hot before it's renovation, and I would have given it 2 out of 5, but with the renovation, I bumped it up. Another great plus is that it's a 5 minute walk from Saiki station if you need to do a bit of train commuting. Overall, it's quite basic, but you can tell the staff here are really trying to give you a comfortable experience and for me, that can make a world of difference.
