Our third stay in this luxury resort did not disappoint. As usual a warm welcome from Dagmar and her young team of helpful friendly reception staff. The hotel is kept in immaculate condition and service is uniformly excellent . It is noticeable how the hotel retains staff which is a tribute to the management . Housekeeping in the rooms is first class and the sauna and swimming facilities are spotlessly clean. The views from the lounge and dining areas are breathtaking. The restaurant is run like clockwork by Axel who is most knowledgeable about the extensive wine list in particular the local wines. Meals are varied delicious and involve top quality produce . Particular highlights are the pasta evening ( agin supervised by Mr Ebner senior)and the fish /sushi/ seafood evening . The short shuttles to the ski slope or ski hire shop are run superbly . An addition this year in the lounge bar was a delightful young female singer who was very pleasant as was the harpist playing one evening during dinner. Bar service is good with tasty small snacks although prices are expensive . On request coffee machines are available at reception ( Cremosa brand) but in a hotel of this grade it’s somewhat surprising to be charged for the coffee pods ! In summary a classy family run luxury hotel in a great location with full leisure facilities and noticeable quality architectural design.

“Great location and spa, but few shortcomings and heavily overpriced”

The Kolfuschgerhof hotel is a 5-star hotel in the Badia Valley, just outside the namesake village of Col Fosco. Location: excellent, with a breathtaking view of both the Dolomites and the Badia Valley and the Col Fosco village is reachable with a pleasant 15' walk. Structure: although rooms are not too many, the hotel is spread on a relatively large area and sometimes the way around it can appear labyrinthic! Rooms: decently sized and well decorated, although the layout could have been better designed: in our room opening the wardrobe was blocking the access to the bathroom!!!!! Unfortunately, the rooms don't have any tea/coffee facilities and not even a simple bottle of water is provided, which is a major and unexpected shortcoming for a 5-hotel. Wellness: great, with a huge sauna on the roof garden and a smaller but nice sauna world in the basement. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools and an excellent gym. Regrettably, such beautiful facilities are badly managed. The daily spa ritual in the main sauna was incredibly poorly and amateurishly executed, on one occasion cancelled. The basement's sauna world does not have any drinking facilities (you have to exit to drink a glass of water!) and unexpectedly children are allowed in the adults, textile-free saunas! Food: the hotel does not provide an afternoon snack, quite a regular feature of this level of Alpine hotels. However, breakfast and dinner offer a quite varied choice of dishes and adequate portions. As for the quality, it is quite fluctuating, with excellent level for the local dishes (in particular meat and game) but the traditional pasta dishes were not well cooked at all. Waiters were ok. Service: the reception desk is kind and seems to genuinely care for the guests well-being. However, coordination sometimes seems to be a problem, as we were assured the saunas will be turned on at a certain time by reception but eventually were not! All in all an hotel with a remarkable structure, a great wellness area but that should work on improving various shortcomings, which are not acceptable in such a pricey establishment. Not recommended.
