During our Namibia road trip, we chose the Plaza Hotel in Swakopmund as our base for exploring the town. Its location was very central, making all the sights and many restaurants within walking distance. Our room was very spacious and clean, and offered good free Wi-Fi. A good breakfast and parking directly at the hotel were included in the price. The friendly staff at reception gave us some great restaurant recommendations. We can recommend this hotel for a short stay to explore the town, as it's located right in the heart of Swakopmund.

“Excellent location”

Very good location and friendly staff. Rooms are very very small. The rooms and beds are clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. You can walk to all the touristy areas which is the best feature of this hotel. It was nice to have a small porch since the rooms are so small.

Looks modern at first glance with nice decor, however after spending three nights there I noticed the chipped bathroom tiles and large crack in the wardrobe mirror. Comfy bed but the bathroom was so small that when the door was opened it hit the toilet, and there was nowhere at all to hang your tow… more

Looks modern at first glance with nice decor, however after spending three nights there I noticed the chipped bathroom tiles and large crack in the wardrobe mirror. Comfy bed but the bathroom was so small that when the door was opened it hit the toilet, and there was nowhere at all to hang your towel. The walls are thin and you can hear the street and corridor noise very easily. Patchy unreliable wi-fi. Nice staff and the food was mostly pretty good. However one morning there were a lot of flies and it was disgusting to see some crawling over the breakfast buffet. A la carte took a long time.

Make sure you ask for an outside facing room. Most rooms face inwards towards each other and the corridor. Hairdryer but no mirror other than in bathroom. Room reset but floor not cleaned as still sand everywhere. Breakfast was brilliant

This place is designed for very mid-level business travellers. My enquiry posted via booking.com was answered by the hotel few weeks after my stay... The accommodation ( i can't find a better description, because it can't be called a hotel room/suit) we had was a family two room unit. Both rooms were facing bedrooms of another unit. So be mindful when you open the curtains. The light with the motion sensor is in the corridor between rooms and bathroom. Not sure whose idea it was, but at night, if one person going to the bathroom the light comes On. (nothing can be altered). One of the rooms had a place for TV. We found just a hole in the panel. We were told that the unit is furnished with one TV only... The accommodation had dilapidated broken furniture. The bathroom is a story of its own. The same person whose idea was to place motion sensor in the corridor, most probably designed the bathroom. To enter the shower, you must squeeze between the toilet seat and the glass partition. (see pic) The shower cabin had no door and the glass panel separating the shower cabin is +-45cm long which make it impossible not to flood the floor of the bathroom when showering. Lifts are very dirty. The bedding was ok. Aircons were in order. The breakfast is not spectacular, but good. On the positive side, the staff (EVERYONE!!!) is so friendly and helpful that it made our stay manageable. The location is central, again good for business travellers. I am not sure that this facility bears any Star. The travel agent who booked the tour was assuring that the accomodation is a 4-star hotel. But it will be taken up with the agency rather.
