“Lovely hotel in the heart of the city”

The hotel is very well located for exploring the city. They have their own parking (at a cost) just up the road which was helpful. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming throughout the hotel and restaurant. The food in both the casual lounge area and the more formal restaurant was sensational. Our room was probably one of the smaller ones but was adequate. Only issues were the light in the bathroom was on a sensor and kept switching off and our room was directly at the bottom of the stairs leading from the lounge area and was quite noisy until everyone had retired to bed which for some was quite late. We used the gym which was small but had everything you need for a short workout. Wellness spa facilities looked good although we didn’t use. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Alesund and the Brosundet hotel.

It’s one of those magical places that months later you cannot stop thinking about. We stayed here in September during our last few nights in Norway. From the moment we walked in our every need was anticipated. The front desk warmly welcomed us, arranged a sea view room and quickly offer us a drink. After settling into our charming room on the top floor, with a window nook overlooking the water, a large comfy bed, cozy sitting area and spacious bathroom with the absolute best lotions & soaps (I bought several of the lotions to take home as gifts - they were that good!) we headed back downstairs. The main atrium lobby contains an impressive floor to ceiling fireplace that was always roaring making it feel warm and inviting. It was so cozy I spent two nights curled up in front of the fireplace with a book and a glass of wine. Off the main lobby are two living room areas curated with gorgeous Scandinavian mid-modern furniture. This layout ensure guests had access to intimate spaces to gather or settle in for the night. The restaurant was even more special. First the food. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner (2x) here. Fresh, innovative, layered and flavorful. The service was excellent. We even spent an afternoon in the back garden sunroom eating French fried, drinking wine and watching the brave souls jump into the canal. It was a wonderful way to spend a content afternoon. Their product is nothing short of exceptional. Being there felt like a gift - I have never felt so relaxed and attended to.

I had high expectations for this hotel based on the steep price and the beautiful online photos, but unfortunately it ended up being one of the more disappointing stays of our Norway trip. We stayed in the Superior Sea View Room, so my expectations were especially high given the premium price and room category. We spent 9 days traveling throughout Norway, and this hotel had by far the worst bathroom we encountered. It was extremely small, very dated, and honestly felt more like a dingy public restroom than a hotel bathroom. I was so put off by it that I didn’t even want to take a photo. My husband almost never complains about hotels, and even he was shocked that we practically had to climb over the toilet just to get into the shower. On top of that, it took around 3–4 minutes for the hot water to finally start flowing. The room itself was better than the bathroom. The furnishings felt modern, the bed was soft and comfortable, and the view of the water was very nice. However, the room became uncomfortably hot and we were unable to adjust the temperature ourselves. That said, there were definitely positives. The staff was very kind and thoughtful throughout our stay. Because we had an early morning flight and would miss breakfast, they prepared coffee and a breakfast-to-go bag for us, which we really appreciated. It rained heavily during our visit, and the hotel provided free umbrellas for guests, which was also a nice touch. The lobby was cozy and inviting, and complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby made the space feel warm and welcoming. Overall, the service and common areas were pleasant, but for the price — especially for a Superior Sea View Room — the bathroom situation and lack of temperature control made this stay feel far below expectations.

A very disappointing stay at this hotel. The decor is lovely and the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable and warm. However, our room, in the original part of the hotel, was tiny and unsuitable for two adults with luggage. There was a lack of space to put toiletries in the shower room and we had to unplug a light to enable us to charge our phones. The buffet breakfast was fine. We were told at reception it was a busy weekend!
