A cozy clean quiet 3 story hotel right in the middle of the historical center, next to the Kremlin. Great atmosphere, lovely design. Awesome breakfast. Rooms have all necessary amenities. Highly recommend!

Located right next to the Kremlin in one of Russia's most beautiful cities, the Sibir is the most authentic hotel in all of Russia, allowing the traveler to dive into the history of this huge country. Plenty of paintings and fotos and historic maps on the walls. Cozy old furniture. Great views on the Kremlin. Relatively high class restaurant. The only downside is the unfriendly reception and security.

We spent three nights there in the middle of August. Yes, from the street it looks rather Soviet, i.e., obsolete, but the interior—particularly the welcome area—is quite pleasant. There was even a yellow Tweety birdie singing in a cage that nestled by the desk! Our newly remodelled room boasted a comfortable bed and a correctly installed air-conditioner in a distant corner rather than above the bed. However, the common areas, such as stairwells and corridors, were in obvious need of renovation. Sound insulation was also somewhat subpar. The hotel's staff is its biggest asset; they are professional, responsive, and very friendly. We liked both their breakfast and their evening restaurant too. They don't have an elevator, but a porter is at your service almost all the time. A guarded parking for some 7-8 vehicles is in the courtyard, free for guests. To sum up, Siberia—or Sibir' in Russian—is a nice place to stay and unquestionably among the best in Tobolsk. Handy tips: a) make sure your room has air-conditioning in advance; b) request a room with a view of the inner territory for a more peaceful sleep—also in advance; c) do reserve a table at their restaurant—it's damn popular; d) be prepared for the bed in your room be made, er, just lightly (see corresponding photo), e) not all of the staff speak English fluently; f) the hotel is still in the process of renovation (the works are mostly invisible), so some rooms' décor and equipment may be outdated.

train station is located outside the city center. You need to take bus N. 4 (do not cross the road) its last stop is in front of the Kremlin. Hotel is on pl Remzova on your left. Hotel' furniture is ancient style. In the bathroom there is a multi-jet shower cabin (big effect to see it but did not provide any big shower experience). Breakfast is a small buffet and they will cook eggs and sausages for you. wifi available. Price 3400 ruble (with free registration). Train to Novosibirsk leave every 2 days in the middle of the night (around 2am local time) and trainstation location is far away. Police is ever present in the waiting room and no security problems.
