The Hotel Villa Maria, a two star hotel centrally situated in Calle Don Antonio Povedano 23, Cabra telephone (+34) 857 894 040 was highly recommended by friends. It is a restored aristocratic house of 20th century - 1918. Once the summer holiday home of some high personage .Attractive with glassed balconies and iron fenced entrance. Although the facade retains much of the original splendour the inside has been modernised with each room having the names of the different popular sections of the town or street name. For example our room. A good size double room consisting of private hall housing ample wardrobes , shower room and sleeping quarters with a lovely balcony facing the beautiful Parque Alcantara – Romero was named the Paseo, my daughter’s room the Barriada. The Hotel has a small but inviting lounge with comfortable chairs, plenty of magazines and television. The restaurant is small but opened (except for Mondays) all day long. You can have coffee, or drinks at any time. Dinner is a la carte and Menu of the Day lunches consists of a three course meal with three choices each course for Euros 9.00. Service is good and the staff most helpful. On arrival the receptionist, a lovely lady, helped carrying our luggage and was extremely nice throughout our stay. Any little problem was solved almost immediately. We had a breakfast and a dinner. The dinner was simple but very well cooked and tasteful. Most enjoyable. The hotel is privately owned and managed by the owner and his family and everyone exceeds in their helpfulness and manners. Can recommend highly.

This hotel is in the centre of Cabra. The rooms are of good quality. It is a small town centre hotel within easy walking distance of the many local restaurants. It has a small bar which is heavily used by locals particularly when the football is playing. If you are looking for a clean bedroom with well stocked bathroom and free wifi then this will do the job. BUT it is a local hotel in a small town with no fancy bars or restaurant. We have stayed twice as our daughter is currently working in Cabra and have no complaints.

Beautifully refurbished old villa close to old town centre. This hotel deserves more than two stars in my opinion. I stayed in January when it was very quiet and really cold at night. Beautifully refurbished old villa close to old town centre. This hotel deserves more than two stars in my opinion. I stayed in January when it was very quiet and really cold at night. No problem in bedroom with good heating system. Rooms can be a little noisy early morning, but not a huge amount of traffic. Usual problem in most Spanish towns, Parking is a nightmare. The only way I managed to get a space was by waiting until after 14.00 when a few appear. (Why does nobody ever mention parking in their reviews) Another reviewer mentioned the fact that there were no restaurants in Cabra. Their is at least one excellent one in town centre. Great little 2 star hotel that seems to have been recently refurbished so modern and quite stylish. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Great little 2 star hotel that seems to have been recently refurbished so modern and quite stylish. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. We were on the back of the building where the rooms had small high windows that you couldn't easily look out of. If you want more daylight then ask for a room on the front overlooking the park but I understand these can be quite noisy due to the traffic. All staff were very friendly and helpful. As mentioned there is a bar, accessed through a door in reception, which was like stepping into a different world as clearly the bar hadn't been part of the renovation process. This was a popular place with locals and drinks and snacks were very reasonable. Unfortunately, the bar also provided the one big negative of our stay. On the first night we noticed a very strong smell of cigarettes in our rooms. The next day I mentioned this to the owner who acted puzzled as to why this might be given there is a smoking ban in Spain like most of the rest of Europe. That evening the mystery was solved as when we returned we saw the owner chatting to a customer who was openly smoking in there.We even saw a member of staff smoking behind the bar! As the door between bar and hotel was often left open and Spanish cigarettes seem particularly strong, it was little wonder the smell was reaching our rooms on the second floor and we had to resort to spraying deodorant on the bedsheets to try and mask the smell in order to go to sleep. This alone would put me off staying here again which is a shame when they have clearly spent so much money doing up the hotel.
