What a lovely place. Once we had found it along the narrow and twisty roads in amongst the mountains and forests of Gaucin we were very pleasantly surprised. We were welcomed by the very plesent Celia and shown to our little one bedroom house, which was very clean and well presented. The front door went into the lounge dining area, which was very rustic but had excellent air conditioning, contained a television (Spanish Programmes only), mini bar in a fridge, large settee, coffee table, dining table and chairs, very adequate for the two of us. The stairs at the rear led up to a bathroom, with shower over the bath, toilet, bidet, sink, large mirror, hairdryer and plenty of fresh clean towels. It also had a wall heater for winter stays. The single bedroom was large and contained a super kingsize bed (I think it was two singles pushed together) with hard mattresses, which we prefer, built in wardrobes, and a dressing table. I could only find one mains socket in the bedroom. It had shutters and doors on the windows to block out the hot sunshine during the day. there was also an excellent air conditioning unit in the bedroom. The was plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe for clothes and a property safe for our valuables. We also requested a kettle with coffee and teas and they obligingly put one in our room. Outside the first 6 apartments was a large courtyard area, which was used for outside dining and entertainment, steps led down to a lovely well kept swimming pool, with plenty of sunbeds and fixed parasols on the lawns. The re is a steam room are the back, but we didn't use as it was too hot outside. Also showers at each end of the swimming pool. The pool and gardens were maintained everyday to a high standard. There is a lot of wild life about, particularly large ants, and lizards, and occasionally the wild goats would appear from nowhere, but they didn't bother us. A continental breakfast was available in the dining room every morning, on a self service basis, therefore as much as you wanted. There was a snack menu available at lunch time, pizzas, toasties, chips etc.. and on an evening although the dinner menu was not extensive the food was superb and drinks were available at the bar all day long and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Although we were there for my son's wedding, 120 people were served a four course meal with wines very professionally in the courtyard until there early hours, we were first there at the beginning of the week and last to leave at the end of the week at which times the peace, silence and tranquility was fantastic, we just laid by the pool listening to the wildlife, no sounds or sights of the modern world. We had our wedding at the hotel in June this year and I have to say, the hotel is fab but the running of the hotel and the events are extremely poor. The stress of trying to communicate with David in the months up to the hotel was extremely frustrating. We would be told to "whatsapp" him and when we did it was 2/3 weeks before we would get a reply. In saying that, once he replied we were satisfied with everything. We were anxious that our wedding would be a difficult one to accomodate as it was a big enough wedding (85 guests) however the staff were really friendly. Especially Celia. The wedding day itself went okay, David was not around on the day due to a cake issue. We had his father for a wedding planner on the day which was very stressful as it seemed David and his father had not communicated very well so lines of communication were all mixed up leading to a lot of stress for us. The hotel is beautiful. If it was run a little more professional it would be so perfect for a private wedding setting. My advice to the hotel would be to: Make drastic improvements for communication within the staff. Hire a professional wedding planner if David is too busy to connect with guests and brides/grooms. This is something that leaves a little dark cloud over our wedding memories. Keep the pool clean. “Beautiful setting... poorly run”

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with amazing views. The houses are clean and spacious if the hotel was run better it would be perfect. A few things let the hotel down, the food wasn't cooked properly and the owner came across rude and also tried to over charge.
