“Stunning.”

We have recently moved back to my partners home city in spain, just over an hour away from the hotel. I have a chronic illness which means I need to use a wheelchair a lot of the time. We travelled to the hotel via Escatrón and had no issues finding the place whatsoever - although that could also b… more

“Near luxury in a wilderness”

First the good news - this is a lovely hotel, with comfortable rooms [though our rooms on the second floor under the eaves were uncomfortably hot the aircon wasn't butch enough to cope] a pleasant bar and interesting restaurant. The setting is quiet and the Monasterio beautiful and visits are free… more

“Great environment, great building poor service”

The hotel is centered in an old monaster and looks a lot like the parador chain in Spain but this is owned by the regional government. The place itself is wondefull but because of the lack of visitors it looks abondoned. This is really a shame because nature is wonderfull overhere and there are rea… more

“Not to take board at this hotel”

Don't take half boards. The service and the food not at the level you can expect. The dinner not tasty, the breakfast not that must be in a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very good and very spacesly. The hotel are build into a real monastery. The history and the nature are in everywhere

Key features of the moderation of reviews

There is an automatic system that detects offensive language, in which case the review will not be published. If an owner reports one of the reviews, the review will be re-evaluated and, if it fails to comply with our content standards, it will be taken down.

Our criteria for collecting guest reviews

After getting home from the trip booked with us, the customer will receive an email asking them to review different aspects of each of the services booked. The system only allows the booking holder to complete this review and only once.

When will my review appear on the website?

Reviews typically take less than 24 hours to appear on our website. The process may take longer if our team of moderators have to examine the review in more detail.

How long will my review stay on the website?

Once it has been published, your review will automatically appear in the summary of reviews and if it is considered a featured review (based on publication date, length and quality of content), the complete review will also appear. Said review will not appear or will disappear from the system if it contains offensive language or if it is reported.

Can I get a reward for my opinion?

No. Reviews written in exchange for personal rewards such as gifts, services, or money will be taken down.

Can a review be edited?

No, once a review has been written, it cannot be edited. If you want it taking down, you can ask to have it deleted and not republished again.

Will my review appear on other websites or publications?

Once published, all or some of the reviews written by our members may be used on some of our partner sites or in promotional material in general.

If I write a review about a service, can the provider contact me about it?

  • The top reviews of Hostal Monasterio De Rueda are: We have recently moved back to my partners home city in spain, just over an hour away from the hotel. I have a chronic illness which means I need to use a wheelchair a lot of the time. We travelled to the hotel via Escatrón and had no issues finding the place whatsoever - although that could also be because my partner is Spanish and used to the road. Before we booked I enquired about accessibility of the hotel and they were very quick to communicate and very helpful. We went for the romantic package however we opted for the accesible room so cannot comment on the bath tub advertised on the romantic package. On arrival the hotel and grounds is just stunning, it was wheelchair accessible and very flat. Every where including the terrace and the restaurant are a short walking distance anyhow. We were lucky (perhaps not the right word) but as we went during these uncertain pandemic times, we practically had the hotel to ourselves which is perfect for what we wanted ( a get away for the evening ). We had Champagne and chocolates delivered to the BEAUTIFUL wheelchair access room located on the first floor accesible by the lift. The deportation in the room was perfect, like a bedroom rather than a hotel room. The air con was blissful. We took lots of photos, enjoyed the terrace and ventured down to the water mill. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user so this was ‘easier’ for me as although there are Ramps all the way down to the water mill, there are gaps in the ramps and it’s quite steep so my partner couldn’t push me the entire way. But this was still ‘accessible’ for me, and a lovely experience. Our package included dinner and a bottle of wine. Dinner wasn’t spectacular for me (I’m allergic to nuts and shellfish) which sadly made up a big part of the menu we were entitled to select from, however my partner said the seafood risotto he had was the best he’d ever had. The gazpacho was nice and the wine was good too. The ONLY comments I would make at this point were; the dining room we sat in for dinner is not fitting at all with the rest of the hotel and grounds, it feels like a very boxed in lacking in character room which just is paradox to the rest of the beauty there. Had things not been restricted I guess we would have sat in the adjacent room with glass walls overlooking the terrace which is very beautiful. The other thing is, our wine glasses were really dirty. This may have been because of COVID limited staff etc. And my partner told me he’d be embarrassed if I asked for new glasses, but they were really bad. For a 4 star hotel these are the little things and details that mean a lot to customers so maybe just a learning point to remind waiting staff to polish glasses once they leave the dishwasher (I’ve polished hundreds in my time in the same job role). We had a fantastic night sleep, and then in the morning we had the MOST AMAZING breakfast. We couldn’t have buffet due to the virus, so we could each choose one of three options. We could have sat there all day eating, not only was the quantity unbelievably good value - but the quality was fantastic too. REAL squeezed fresh orange juice (as just one example). Lovely made coffee. (Again, the small details mean so much). We then did the tour of the monastery which I managed to walk, but the tour guide was very accommodating and understood our circumstances and told us we could take the wheelchair and or leave at any time I couldn’t go further. However it was achievable for me and (it had ramps everywhere but again, due to the nature of the building they were fairly steep so that’s worth considering if you’re wheelchair user). We left the tour early when the group when back to the water mill we had already seen the day before. The tour guide was so professional knowledgeable and also kind. Honestly, today I have holiday blues just from one night away! Haha. I want to come back again and again. Im praying the prices don’t hike up and the quality stays just as high. I’m sure it will. Thank you for the most beautiful get away, at SUCH reasonable prices. We will be back!.
