Sweden's oldest hotel, of course renovated. But small rooms, although we had a superior one, the bathroom was very small and old-fashioned and the shower even smaller. Not really 4-star standard with not even a safe deposit box in the room for a relatively high price. Highlight was the breakfast buffet with a very large choice including regional products.

“Continental Du Sud Ystad You Can Do Better”

Maybe we are just spoiled Danes, accustomed to stays at places like the 5-star Hotel Marienlyst in Helsingør and the fantastic 4-star Elite Hotel Savoy in Malmö. Compared to these, we apparently expected too much from the 4-star Continental Du Sud in Ystad. We booked an upgraded manor room. Yes, it was clean and "nice" :) But there was no real feeling of luxury :( No minibar, no water in the room, few bath products, no bathrobes or slippers, and the TV couldn't be adjusted to be viewed from the bed :( The bedside lamps were unintelligent, with tiny shelves where your phone, a glass of water, etc., would fall to the floor if you reached for something during the night. The worst part was the hotel's breakfast arrangement. We heard people talking about only being able to get a breakfast slot at 07.00 :) And it says on your breakfast booking ticket that if you snooze (oversleep), you lose (your right to breakfast). Come on, why should you have to get up at 06.00 on your vacation to get the breakfast you've already paid for :( That’s just ridiculous! We paid an extra 100 SEK to have it served in the room, so we could "afford" to sleep until 08.30 - Continental Du Sud, you can do better!!! We had a 3-course meal in the hotel's restaurant one evening and yes, there were side plates, but we were not served any bread to go with the meal, so what are we supposed to do with them??? We were promised coffee after the meal, but it was forgotten - We are not impressed and did not feel "at home". Continental Du Sud, you have room for improvement!

A lovely looking hotel with some good points but when you book a suite and the room isn’t cleaned properly then I’d say that it’s very poor . A lovely looking hotel with some good points but when you book a suite and the room isn’t cleaned properly then I’d say that it’s very poor . Neither bathroom has been cleaned , towels left where we left them , handbasins not touched along with the shower enclosure . The fruit bowel hadn’t been replenished or cleaned , basically the bed has been made but that’s about it . The bar / restaurant is nice and so are the staff , the food and drinks on offer are ok . In summary , don’t expect luxury …you’ll be disappointed .
