“Nice rooms - mediocre breakfast”

If you need accommodation in the Cheltenham & Gloucester area this is a pretty good option. My room on the ground floor was great! A huge room with a nice big bed. A decent sized TV which you can connect your Netflix app to with your phone. Bath, shower, AirCon, kettle, ironing facilities, room service (£5 charge). 2 x car parks. 1 x EV charging car park nearer to the front door with several vehicle charging points... sadly several inconsiderate lazy types were parking their non EV range rovers in there so you may not get a space. Perhaps put a sign up? Plug in vehicles only! The pillows are the softest pillows in the world. Put your head on them and you will immediately sink through them to the mattress. Even having all four of them, you will still end up sinking through them. Zero support. Not for me as I prefer a firmer more supportive pillow. The spa is typical of a hotel gym/spa and is included in the cost of your stay. The gym is cramped especially with other people in, but for a stopgap it's adequate, you get everything you need - dumbells, squat rack/ bench press, some basic cable machines, pull up bar, dip bar and cardio machines. The sauna was excellent, hitting 85C most days. Small swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi. 4 stars not 5? The staff on the desk seemed stressed and not particularly happy to see me turn up at the hotel, disappointing after a 5 hour drive. The quality of the cooked breakfast is nowhere near the standard of the room. Cheap sausages. Fried eggs sitting in a centimetre of cheap oil. Bits of bacon folded over and glued to each-other, the mushrooms completely and utterly unseasoned... they were either bone dry or soggy and taste exclusively of soil. Shockingly mediocre. Where's the love? Both coffee machines playing up! All a bit unprofessional really. Thankfully my room was very comfortable (minus the pillows).

“Lovely country hotel”

Lovely hotel in a quiet location but near to both Gloucester and Cheltenham. Good size rooms that are in good condition and very clean. Friendly, helpful staff and good food options.

We recently enjoyed a weekend stay and, overall, found it to be excellent value for money thanks to the Travelzoo offer. The location is a real highlight, providing easy access to many of the beautiful Cotswolds villages, countryside walks, and local attractions. Our room was a good size, well-presented, and featured a very comfortable bed, making for a relaxing stay. The spa and leisure facilities were enjoyable but are beginning to look a little tired and could benefit from some refurbishment. The standout feature of our visit was the restaurant. The quality of the food was excellent, with a varied and well-executed menu. Service was equally impressive, particularly from Jess, who was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our dining experience. The bar and restaurant team were consistently warm, welcoming, and a credit to the hotel. Unfortunately, the reception experience let the hotel down. It appeared that the front desk was understaffed, which may have contributed to a lack of patience from some team members. The welcome felt frosty and the overall attitude was noticeably less welcoming than elsewhere in the hotel. This was disappointing, especially when compared with the superb service provided by the bar and restaurant staff. Despite this, we had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return, particularly for the excellent restaurant, comfortable accommodation, and convenient location.
