I was slightly surprised the bed was only a standard double but otherwise the room was adequate. Breakfast was free and very good.

“Potentially excellent hotel, management needs work.”

This should be a really good hotel for a weekend event. It’s well located, there’s ample car parking, the hotel is spacious and it has a good restaurant and bar area - in short if you have guests coming to an event from all over Britain, the West Midlands is a place which should come first to mind.… more

This should be a really good hotel for a weekend event. It’s well located, there’s ample car parking, the hotel is spacious and it has a good restaurant and bar area - in short if you have guests coming to an event from all over Britain, the West Midlands is a place which should come first to mind. The staff are excellent, willing to go the extra mile, and offer a friendly face to visitors. So what’s not to like? The problem is that the hotel is understaffed resulting in long waits in the restaurant, even when meals have been preordered. It also means that staff have to be pulled off one job to support colleagues in another. This results in things not being as well organised as they should be, it makes the job much harder for everyone, and the consequence is that what should be a good experience becomes a disappointment. We stayed in a premium room which was excellent in terms of facilities, space and comfort. Unfortunately it’s also at the end of the hot water pipes, and you need to run the water for quite a while to get it hot, especially at peak times when the bathrooms are being used before breakfast. It’s a waste of water, is a nuisance, and I had the impression that staff are well aware of the shortcomings of their best room. Finally, and nothing to do with the hotel, but something that made me think that I would not consider the location for a more international event. Bromsgrove, and some surrounding districts, is one of the places where hundreds of flags, both the Union flag, and the English flag have been attached to lampposts. Whether it was patriotism that fuelled this practice in mid 2025, or whether the intent was to intimidate, these flags are now often dirty, bedraggled, and starting to fray. Often they appear to be flying at half mast, they are not properly lit, and the words that came to mind were shame and disrespect for our national flag. If the local authorities were half way competent and even a little imaginative, they would have removed them, and made their communities look less as though there had recently been a carnival and nobody had bothered to clean up after it. Anyway, I wouldn’t want to explain this to overseas visitors, so I’d look for another hotel where the local authority is either braver, or better organised. There are many such, including others in the West Midlands.
