Just returned from a 2 night stay here and it was brilliant. We had the best time, my kids (10+3) had an amazing time and absolutely loved every second. After reading all the recent reviews, I was quite hesitant, expecting to be disappointed but I was proved completely wrong. Check in was completely pain free, self serve check in was very simple, or there were a few desks if you needed help. All staff we encountered were pleasant and happy which was nice. There was security present between the hotel and park which was reassuring. We stayed in the giraffe room which was amazing as it looked out right over the reserve. The giraffes were a beautiful sight and were out both days! What was a really nice and thoughtful touch was 2 little giraffe soft toys and chocolate on the pillows for my children, they were so happy so thank you! :) The bed was a little harder than used to but nothing to winge about, spacious size rooms, clean and everything we needed. Really appreciate there being a mini fridge in the room! This helped! Hair dryer, iron and ironing board provided, tea and coffee facilities and towels. The shower unfortunately kept sliding down the holder so you had to hold it in the end and the water pressure was non existent but again, just meant a bit longer in the shower! It's a big hotel so to be expected I guess. Pre book breakfast as a must, it gets busy but it didn't feel hectic at all. Lots of choice, cooked breakfast, fruit, pastries, pancakes, juice, hot drinks, really happy with the selection. Thank you to Joanne at breakfast who was an absolute star and so lovely. We didn't eat in the hotel (apart from breakfast which was included in our booking) as the menu was incredibly expensive and not worth spending that on my kids who are particular eaters, so we ordered food in which seemed to be the go to for quite a lot of hotel guests. The cinema section in the foyer was lovely, the kids enjoyed sitting in there on passing and meeting new friends. Definitely recommend going to a supermarket to get packed lunch stuff for the theme park as again, it's eye wateringly expensive. We had 3x small hot dogs and chips and it was £55, although nice, it wasn't mind blowing so definitely take your own stuff in. Water stations around the park which was a nice touch. Remember to get your free parking exit ticket before you leave, otherwise you'll have the embarrassing need to reverse and as people like to sit right on your bumper, it's fun when everyone has to reverse so you can turn around to go back and get your ticket to avoid being charged! Overall, we had an amazing stay and I would definitely book again!! The loss of the last star was due to how expensive the food was in the hotel which meant we didn't use it. Don't let the reviews put you off, I was very pleasantly surprised being half term and everything was great! Thankyou so much Chessington, we will definitely be back! ☺️☺️

I recently stayed at Chessington World of Adventures Safari Hotel (7th April 2026) in one of their accessible/disability rooms, and overall had a really enjoyable experience, though there are a few important improvements that would make a big difference. Starting with the hotel room itself, it was a lovely size and felt spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was also a really good size, which is always appreciated when you need extra space to manoeuvre. However, there were a couple of issues that made things more difficult for me personally. As someone who is unable to stand and relies entirely on upper body strength for transfers, I found the bed to be too high. Lowering it to a more standard wheelchair transfer height would make it far more accessible. Also, the mattresses are so hard and uncomfortable, making it a difficult nights sleep. Additionally, the bath was not suitable for someone who cannot stand independently. I wasn’t able to get into it safely, as it would require someone to physically pull me out. On top of that, the tiled edges around the bath are quite sharp and could easily cause cuts, which is something that should definitely be addressed. On a more positive note, the Temple Restaurant was absolutely amazing. While the price is a bit steep, it is genuinely worth it. The food was incredible, and the staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout. There was plenty of space for a wheelchair, which made moving around easy, although I would have needed assistance reaching plates and accessing some of the dishes further back in the buffet. Breakfast at the Safari Bar and Grill was another highlight. The food was excellent with a huge variety of options, and again, the staff were lovely and made the experience really pleasant. Overall, it was a great stay with some standout dining experiences and genuinely kind staff. With a few key accessibility improvements, particularly in the bedroom and bathroom setup, it could be an even better experience for wheelchair users.

This was our first trip to Chessington and our first time staying in the safari hotel. Finding the venue was easy and parking was simple; we pre paid for parking. Check in was from an automatic machine and we prepaid £5 for keys. We located our hotel room, we chose a jumanji room which was clean and interesting (the tiger mounting the headboard had a green light in its head which was so bright I needed to cover this up to sleep!) the view from our room was lovely over looking the animals. Unfortunately we left it rather late to pre book our breakfast and dinners so had to make do with a late sitting each day. We managed to eat breakfast in the zafari restaurant (the nicer one) but food was mediocre and not a lot of choice. If you’re a healthy person who chooses healthy choices there will not be much to eat! We got coffees from costa at the bar as the instant didn’t cater for oat milk. Dinner had to be at the temple restaurant which was even worse than Butlins budget dining plan! It offered a buffet style experience but the food was tasteless and lacking in choices. In the second night the only tempting choice for me was sausage, chips and beans from the child’s station and this was at £30 a head. Painful. We did book in for dinnner at the nicer restaurant and were looking forward to steak and burgers but got there only to be old the kitchen had shut due to some sort of issue and that we could go to the temple restaurant which we would rather eat dust; but with two hungry children we decided we had no choice but to pay the eye watering fee for the horrible bland buffet. The theme park was a great experience. Friendly and helpful staff; good signage for toilets etc and fast track allowed us to experience most if not all of the rides. We enjoyed ourselves and had to complaints. On the last day; after another bland breakfast; we had booked to go swimming. I was surprised how small this pool was considering they big it up a lot. We checked in and were told only half of it was open and the splash pool was shut. Children had waited all break to experience the pool so this didn’t go down well, the jazucci was also shut. To summarise; we really enjoyed the theme park but for the money we paid the hotel really needed to improve on standard and customer services. The place was mainly run by young members who didn’t care about your queries or didn’t understand the language you were speaking: we had a good time overall but doubt id stay in the hotel again.
