Myself and my wife had the pleasure of having our wedding at the Higher Trap on good Friday. Overall the entire experience was superb and we would recommend this venue to host your special day. Location - The hotel and surrounding grounds are stunning, we had hoped for an outdoor ceremony but due to the unfavourable weather we instead had an indoor one, despite this the room itself was spacious and wonderfully presented, despite the semi-segregated layout of the Pendle suite the area still feels spacious and it well maintained. Staff - Prior to our wedding all communication with the hotel was quick and easy, our original master of ceremonies left for a new role a couple of months before our wedding, despite the change in staff we had no issues with getting responses or support as needed in preparation for the event. On the day, the staff accredited themselves excellently, special mentions to Shelia and Georgia who made everything run smoothly, the waiting staff was a young team but courteous and hard working. The DJ provided by the venue was also excellent, he was happy to use our playlist with his own additions to fill the gaps and did an excellent job keep the evening atmosphere positive. The only small issue we had was with the "magic mirror" provided in the package, the mirror itself was not working properly and constantly crashed and needed rebooting, a lot of attempts to take pictures sadly did not work, the young man who arrived to disassemble this towards the end of the night was abrupt and rude to myself accusing me of "breaking" the mirror despite the fact myself/nobody was interacting with it at the time, or the fact we reported the issue it was not working properly immediately at the beginning of the evening. Food - The venue served food was good and enjoyed by all the guests, we had 50+ in attendance and received no complaints at all, the tomato soup for starters was particularly good! The venue also accommodated dietary requirements with no issues, a small hiccup with a vegan dessert not arriving was quickly rectified. The venue allowed us to provide our own evening treats such as brownies and crisps alongside the pizza, chips and salad provided by the venue, again the food was well received and we even had spare pizza to take home the following day. We also enjoyed a cooked breakfast at Fitzys the following morning which was warm and tasty. Rooms - We of course had the honeymoon suite, and a number of guests also stayed within the main building and annex further to the side of the hotel, overall the rooms are dated in areas but clean and well provisioned, the contrast with areas which have been modernised such as reception is apparent, but overall the rooms are certainly acceptable. Location - 10/10 Staff - 9/10 Food - 9/10 Rooms - 7/10

We stayed 2 nights in a executive room. All inclusive ultra food and drink a plenty. Room was lovely in a beautiful setting, staff were friendly, attentive and polite. Holly, Georgia and Amber worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble for them, they are all assets to the team. We had a lovely time in the wild wood hot tub. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

“Black mould in room, broken glass surrounding car, loud music prevented sleep”

Stayed at the hotel for one (Friday) night. Check-in went okay, although we were not informed there was no lift to first floor or where breakfast would be. It was clear a wedding was taken place but we were not advised of this. Loud music prevented any sleep till it finished at 0030, as we could gear every word of each song. Severe black mould in bedroom which we weren't aware of until the morning. Room decor very dated, scratched, and in need of an update. Bathroom taps were both broken and hard to turn off. Shower pressure very low. Cobwebs all over the room. Breakfast was okay, although no fresh fruit or yoghurt. Checked out and when we got to car park, broken glass surrounded our car, so we had to move this or face damaging our tyres. We paid £127 for one nights stay and it wasn't worth half that price. Terrible experience.
