“Underwhelming”

Very disappointed with the afternoon tea. Two sandwiches coronation chicken with barely any chicken and a very unappealing smoked salmon. We waited half an hour after our booked time for our food, tea and coffee being brought out 15 minutes too soon. We had a dirty cup, and issues over timing menu ordered items alongside the afternoon tea for others in the group. They had eaten the menu ordered meal before our afternoon tea was even brought out even though it was ordered to be delivered at the same time and told the food was on the way when their meals were served ! I came home still hungry, scones and cream was the highlight and even these were small. The sweet treats were bland, tiny and really a let down. The staff were over worked as a wedding was also on. Would not return or recommend for afternoon tea.

We recently stayed at Corrick House and had a mixed experience overall. On arrival, the reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. However, when we got to our room, we realised we had been given a double instead of the twin room we had booked. I rang reception and, to be fair, this was dealt with quickly as they arranged access to the room next door. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves were quite disappointing. They felt very outdated, with noticeably worn and damaged furniture. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, the floor didn’t appear to have been properly hoovered, and some of the wallpaper was peeling away from the walls. It didn’t feel as clean or well-maintained as expected. We then went to the bar and ordered French Martinis, which were lovely. However, the service was lacking — staff did not circulate around the bar area, and even though it was quiet, we had to go up to the bar each time to order. Dinner was a highlight of the stay. The food was very good, particularly the fillet steaks which we both really enjoyed. We ordered two glasses of wine, and my mum asked to change hers after tasting it as she didn’t like it. The barman seemed unsure and called over a manager, who said we would be charged for the replacement. That wasn’t an issue for us, but the tone used was not very pleasant, which made the interaction uncomfortable. The wine selection could definitely be improved — both the original and replacement wines were quite disappointing, especially for a Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc, as they were much drier than expected. Overall, while there were some positives, particularly the food and initial reception service, the condition of the rooms and aspects of the service would need significant improvement for us to return.
