Dropped into this lovely Hotel twice on our 3 day trip to Callander. First visit was Wednesday afternoon (18/9/24) and was served by lovely chatty young lady. Lager and Gin for the lady were spot on, and the fact that we were allowed our dog in just put the icing on. We dropped in next day after a killer 7 mile walk around the Bracklin Falls and up to The Victoria Jubilee Cairn. We were both looking bedraggled, and Maggie Dog's feet were absolutely manky. Not a problem, seated and served a very welcome and tasty lunch. I had the Crown platter of chicken strips, haggis fritters, onion rings and dips. Very tasty and fresh. My wife had a small Fish, chips and peas, which she said is one of the tastiest and best cooked fish she has had. Batter was lovely and crispy, no grease, and a clean plate was her seal of approval. I decided after tasting one of my wife's chips that I would like a portion, not a problem, the owner (I presume) was on it in a flash and I was presented with a bowl of fries in less than 5 minutes. Maybe it was the 3 hour hike, and feeling like we could eat our shoes, but the food we had was most welcoming, and the staff on both visits first class. Will be back next time we are in the area.

“Great rooms !”

Great rooms in good location on Main Street. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming . Rooms were small but perfect for a 1 night stay. Everything was very clean and very well equipped. Breakfast was included and perfect for a quick bite before check out. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is situated on the Main Street. Rooms are above the pub which means it can be a bit noisy if there is live music. But with ohropax it works. The hotel is situated on the Main Street. Rooms are above the pub which means it can be a bit noisy if there is live music. But with ohropax it works. Room was really small and with one small window a bit dark - but we had everything we need. Bathroom had mould stain at the ceiling and the smell of chlorine was a bit heavy. In the room was also coffee and tea maker. Breakfast was just toast, jam, cornflakes or muesli, yoghurt and sweet stuff like wrapped muffins. Unfortunately no cheese, ham or fruits and vegetables. Food and beer in the pub was really good! And also the staff at the pub and the two ladies in charge of cleaning and breakfast room were really friendly.

We found the hotel on Dugs N Pubs, and went in for lunch. They were very busy and that is a vote of confidence in itself. In total we were in for two and a half hours with apology for delay mentioned generally. The food was no doubt affected by the pressure the staff were expensing, but was at the poor end of the quality scale. Goats cheese salad had tough cheese rind and was not warmed and nestled in salad with garlic bread which was unenjoyable. The Hunters chicken was not dry but the cheese seemed to have been too long under the hot plate. Served with salad and chips. The dogs were tolerated and the beer fantastic.All in all, not an enjoyable experience.
