We held our Highland Celebration of STEM event at Kingsmills Hotel, a busy fast paced day bringing together school children, teachers, and local companies setting hands-on STEM challenges. From initial booking enquiry, setup, through to close, the experience was seamless. The rooms were dressed and ready well in advance, and small adjustments on the day, help with the tech, were handled with ease. The combination of the Kingsmills Suite rooms, the Damfield Suite, and the connecting foyer worked exceptionally well for our format. Having those three spaces linked gave us a self-contained area, large enough to absorb the energy of a young audience moving between sessions, while still feeling like a coherent event. There is easy external access to the rooms, which was important with everyone arriving with kit within a short timescale. No photos included with this review as the event was attended by children. The hotel has 360 degree views of the rooms on their website, which give a good feel for the space. The hotel itself is in a lovely setting, with beautiful garden grounds, just outside Inverness city centre, with good parking. Highly recommend!

I was recently a guest at the beautiful Kingsmills Hotel. I planned a hiking trip with Mt. Sobek, and to ensure I had no problems meeting with them the morning of May1, I stayed at this hotel the nights of April 29 and 30. When I arrived at the Inverness Airport unfortunately my luggage did not arrive with me. All of my hiking gear was in that suitcase. You can imagine my distress at not receiving my luggage. This had happened to me once before when I had flown British Air, and my luggage did not arrive for four whole days. Having had this past experience, I was a bit beside myself with worry. The morning of April 30 I went down to breakfast and explained to the lovely woman hostessing named Kelly my predicament. As my adapter was also in my suitcase, my phone was almost dead too making my stress level even worse as I could not make any calls on my behalf. Kelly took me in charge. She got me an adapter to borrow; she contacted the Inverness Airport and informed them (I’m sure in no uncertain terms, to get the courier to get my luggage to me post haste!) that I needed that missing luggage that day. Thankfully, my luggage arrived around noon, and the sense of relief I had was profound! Then I opened my suitcase to find all my clothes were soaking wet. Apparently at some juncture along the way, my case had sat out in the rain for quite some time. Some of the items I was able to dry in the sun coming into my room; other items were handled by the hairdryer. Some things were so wet, water could be rung from them. Kelly to the rescue again—she volunteered to give them, as she said, a tumble in the hotel dryer. Once they were dry, after her shift had finished, she delivered my clothes to my room—folded! So I left the Kingsmills Hotel with the Mt. Sobek group, suitcase and everything inside dry. Customer service such as that which Kelly provided me is something I’ve never experienced. She even gave me directions where to walk along the Ness/Ness Island with the little time that I had left to me in Inverness. Kelly is a treasure! Additionally, the hotel, the grounds, the restaurant/bar areas were lovely. The food and drink plentiful and delicious! All in all my stay there was wonderful!
