Nice, clean, and spacious rooms—my only wish is that the bathroom had a standard door instead of a sliding one. The breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of choices and great quality. The service was excellent, and the facility is very clean. The pool is nice and well-maintained. I highly recommend this place for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

This is a very new hotel, in a location close to Monterey, but without the claustrophobia of town. It is located between a large shopping mall (Target, Trader Joe's, Kohl's) and a residential area. Walking distance to Trader Joe's was a real plus for us. We had reserved a 1-bedroom, in part to have a table for three of us. It was unavailable at check-in, and the staff substituted two interconnected studios. We ended up with queen beds instead of a King, and no dining table. It was adequate. Ever other Home2Suites we've stayed in had a big spaghetti pot available with the hotplate. This one had only a small frying pan. A good manager would have dispatched someone to Target to solve the problem. I had to boil spaghetti in a microwave (it works OK). The hot tub was a warm tub. The pool is indoors, and too small to swim laps. Breakfast was good, and I particularly like the combination of strawberries and real whipped cream for a waffle. I think this will be a fine place once they have the bugs worked out of it. It's too new, and the staff is not experienced.

The room is clean and spacious. We've booked room 426 which was away from the elevator, near the end of the hall. We had a partial ocean view. The room is clean and spacious. We've booked room 426 which was away from the elevator, near the end of the hall. We had a partial ocean view. I would recommend this room, or any room towards the end of the hall. It was quite enough for us. However, the rooms are not very sound proof. I can't stress enough how disappointing it was to have the hot tub unusable for us due to the high concentration of chemicals. We did mention it to the front desk, they did not seem concerned. In fact, they were unapologetic. We were told that the hot tub was checked a couple of days ago and the chemical balance was fine. A public hot tub should be checked daily. There was so much foam on top of it when we turned on the jets. The bed is comfortable, although there were only three small pillows we asked for a couple more, they were promptly delivered. I thought it interesting that they have a sleeper sofa, but do not provide an extra blanket or pillow in the room. Having the hand soap mounted on the wall in the bathroom is a nice feature. We never liked those little bars, which are usually wasted.

I chose this hotel for a family vacation because (1) it's less than two years old, (2) Monterey and area attractions are close by, and (3) I've stayed at several other Home2s and found them consistently well-maintained and well-managed. They are functional if not fancy, but sometimes that's good enough. Not this time. While not awful, this property was a disappointment. Specifically: - Our one bedroom suite had only a sofa bed and 3 very cheap hard plastic chairs. There was plenty of room for an upholstered chair in the living area and/or the bedroom, but both spaces were empty. I had a knee injury at the time and asked for a more comfortable chair. No dice. - The complimentary internet was unstable and had low bandwidth; it often dropped completely. We did not stream video, but I suspect it would have been impossible. - There was insufficient hot water to shower comfortably on four of our six evenings. - Only two bath towels were provided in a room advertised as sleeping four. - Breakfast ended at 9:00am, but items were not replenished if they ran out before then. Guests frequently had to wait for clean flatware. - In-room coffee bar items were never replaced, and front desk staff had no access to more after hours. - One bathroom pocket door was damaged and so was the table. In fact, the entire room showed unusually heavy wear for a < 2yr old property. Hotel staff were all friendly and professional. I believe they tried their best, but lacked resources and support from management.
