We recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Oakhurst Yosemite (40780 Highway 41, Oakhurst, CA) and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The hotel’s convenient location just minutes from Yosemite National Park, combined with clean, comfortable rooms and the reliable amenities you expect from a Marriott property — including free breakfast, friendly front desk service, and a peaceful atmosphere — made it the perfect base after long days of exploring. What truly elevated our stay was the exceptional service from Gene, the General Manager. When a small personal issue arose during our trip, Gene personally stepped in, helped resolve it quickly, and went well above and beyond to ensure everything worked out for us perfectly. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care turned what could have been a stressful moment into one of the highlights of our visit. It clearly reflects the thoughtful, guest-focused culture he leads across the entire team. If you’re planning a trip to the Yosemite area and want a comfortable, hassle-free stay with staff who truly care, I highly recommend the Fairfield Inn & Suites Oakhurst Yosemite. When you fly weekly, and live in & out of hotels you start picking your places with your own needs at the top of the priority list. There are, a baker's dozen hotels in the township of Oakhurst & I've repeatedly returned to this one. The People behind the desk, or at the breakfast rooms and on the grounds make it a special spot. I'm spoilt and can stay almost, anywhere I please with my budgets. The staff make the cake! Good people from check-in to check-out. Need local advice on eateries, and you'll get the inside skinny on the best watering holes, best eats and who's got something special on the menu tonight! I love the human touch of the 'locals' who look after the place.

Of the three adjacent properties (Holiday Inn, Hampton, and Fairfield), this hotel was the most economical option, but that was reflected in both its condition and overall quality. While its location approximately 30 minutes from Yosemite’s south entrance is convenient for an overnight stay, the property shows noticeable signs of wear despite being only four years old. Issues such as dirt and mold in the showers, holes in the walls, loose panels, and damage to blackout windows near the air conditioning unit indicate a need for more than the “light makeover” currently planned. The front desk experience was particularly disappointing. Upon arrival, the associate (a woman with long brown hair) did not follow basic hospitality standards, such as confirming the guest’s name or checking loyalty status before addressing early check-in. Instead, her approach came across as abrupt and dismissive. She also struggled unnecessarily with verifying identification, insisting that the ID and credit card be held side by side—an unusual and inefficient request not commonly encountered in years of travel. Additionally, her inquiry about whether a paper receipt would be needed at checkout felt out of place during check-in and contributed to an overall impression of disorganization. The interaction lacked professionalism and familiarity with the Bonvoy program, and her demeanor was notably curt with passive-aggressive undertones. Overall, the front desk performance detracted significantly from the guest experience. Parking was complimentary and will increase to $10 for the high season.
