I’ve spent a significant amount of time this year at the Hyatt Place in South Bend/Mishawaka as an extended-stay guest, and I keep coming back for one simple reason: the people. This is not a brand-new property. The building shows some wear, and if you’re looking for something shiny and modern, you may notice that right away. But what this place may lack in physical polish, it more than makes up for in something far more meaningful—remarkable, consistent hospitality. The staff here are exceptional. Not just friendly, but genuinely invested in making your stay comfortable and welcoming. Over time, they’ve come to know me and, just as importantly, my dog—and the care and kindness they show both of us day in and day out is something I don’t take for granted. That level of personal attention is rare, and it’s the reason I continue to choose this hotel. There’s a sense here that you’re not just another guest passing through, but someone they truly care about. In my experience, that matters more than updated fixtures or brand-new furniture. If you value authentic hospitality, consistency, and people who go out of their way to make you feel at home, this Hyatt Place delivers in a way that really stands out.

Love the Hyatt Place hotels! My hotel experience was typical of the brand: it was clean, modern, in safe area with easy parking. The room set up is great and the bedding very good. This staff was helpful and friendly. Really nice option to have small bar and snack area in lobby. The breakfast staff makes good attempt at serving a variety of food in a clean inviting setting. My only suggestion is to serve fresh fruit rather than frozen (defrosted) if possible and second cook to check for use of salt on eggs (eggs were slightly over-salted!). When I reserved my room on line, I was given a room that met all my specific requests (not too close to elevator, better window view). Thank you Hyatt Place for another good experience at a very reasonable cost!

Had doubts when arrived: several youth teams filled the lobby like we couldn't believed. So we were concerned. “Needs an overhaul.”

Tired and dated. Staff was great but the hotel itself is in need of a full remodel. Furniture is old and beat up, carpet is dirty, the room itself wasn't the cleanest. Free breakfast is so-so, of the powedered-eggs and frozen sausage patty variety. The staff was working hard to keep it stocked, but it was pretty underwhelming.
