This is a very nice clean hotel. We did have a few burned out bulbs but still had plenty of light. The stairs were clean, carpeted, and quite wide.

stayed at the Comfort Suites Inn in Elizabethtown, Kentucky for several days and left with mixed feelings. It has a lot of potential and some strong positives, but also some significant drawbacks that impacted the overall quality of my stay. This review will break down every key aspect of my experience to give future travelers a full picture of what to expect. ⸻ 📍 Location – 5/5 The location is one of the strongest features of this hotel. Situated right off a major road, the hotel is easy to find and incredibly convenient for travelers. Whether you’re in town for business, visiting family, attending a local event, or just passing through on a road trip, the location puts you in close proximity to everything you might need. Within just a few minutes’ drive—or even a short walk—you’ll find: • Chain and local restaurants (fast food and sit-down) • Gas stations • Grocery stores • Coffee shops (Starbucks and local options) • Convenience stores and pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens) • Retail shops and department stores This makes it very easy to grab a meal, run errands, or explore the area without having to go out of your way. It’s central and well-connected, which added a lot of convenience to my stay. ⸻ 🏨 Hotel & Amenities – 4/5 Upon entering the hotel, the lobby area is clean, modern, and welcoming. It’s nicely designed and gives a strong first impression, with cozy seating areas, helpful signage, and a smooth check-in counter. The hotel offers a generous set of amenities for its price point, which include: • Indoor Pool: Medium-sized, clean, and open during regular hours. It’s a great perk for families or anyone looking to relax after a long day. • Spa/Hot Tub Area: Small but nice. The water was warm and well-maintained during my visit. • Fitness Room: Equipped with basic machines—treadmills, an elliptical, and free weights. It’s not a full gym but good enough for a quick workout. • Business Center/Office Space: There’s a small desk setup with a printer and computer, which I used once to print documents. Convenient and functional. • Mini Store: Located near the front desk, it’s stocked with essentials like snacks, beverages, frozen meals, and travel toiletries. Prices are a bit high, as expected, but it’s handy in a pinch. • Breakfast Area: The complimentary breakfast includes hot items (eggs, sausage, waffles), cold items (yogurt, cereal, fruit), and beverages (coffee, juice, milk). Nothing gourmet, but decent variety and regularly refilled. The common areas (hallways, lobby, breakfast area) were generally kept clean, and the hotel felt safe and well-lit. There was also plenty of seating in the lobby for guests waiting for rides, checking in, or just relaxing. ⸻ 🤝 Staff & Customer Service – 4.5/5 The staff was genuinely one of the highlights of the stay. Every employee I encountered was polite, helpful, and professional. Front desk staff were quick and efficient during both check-in and check-out. They answered questions clearly, provided extra towels when requested, and made sure guests felt welcomed. Housekeeping was also respectful and did not disturb us unnecessarily. The friendliness of the staff helped balance out some of the other frustrations I encountered. ⸻ 🚗 Parking – 1/5 Now for the biggest issue of the stay — and it’s a major one: parking is a disaster. The lot simply doesn’t have enough spaces for the number of rooms in the hotel. If you’re arriving in the evening (especially after 6 or 7 PM), chances are you will not find a parking spot near the building. I ended up circling the lot multiple times, eventually parking far away in an unlit area that didn’t feel secure. Several guests were seen parking in non-spots—along curbs, in fire lanes, or near dumpsters—because there were literally no alternatives. This creates confusion, crowding, and a safety concern. This issue really detracted from the experience, especially after a long day. It’s frustrating to come back to the hotel and have no place to park. Management needs to seriously reevaluate the capacity of their parking lot or partner with neighboring businesses to allow for overflow parking during busy times. ⸻ 🛏️ Rooms – 3/5 The rooms were just average, not particularly impressive but not terrible either. Here’s a breakdown: • Bed: Comfortable enough, with decent pillows and bedding. I slept fine most nights. • Cleanliness: Generally clean, though the carpet was noticeably stained in a few places. Surfaces were wiped down, but corners and under furniture showed signs of dust. • Furniture: Functional but a bit outdated. Desk chair was worn. Nightstands and dresser drawers stuck a little. • Bathroom: Basic, with good water pressure and hot water, but again, showing signs of age. Some grout discoloration, older fixtures. • Noise: Sound insulation was minimal. I could clearly hear guests walking in the hallway and occasional doors slamming. If you’re a light sleeper, this could be a problem. • Lighting & Outlets: Adequate, but could use more bedside outlets for devices. • TV & Wi-Fi: TV worked well with a decent channel selection. Wi-Fi was surprisingly strong and consistent. The rooms could definitely benefit from a light renovation, especially in terms of updating the furniture, flooring, and wall art. The air conditioning worked well, and the mini-fridge and microwave were clean and functional. ⸻ 🍽️ Breakfast – 3.5/5 Breakfast was included in the stay, and it was decent for a mid-range hotel. Items included: • Hot: scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles (with syrup and toppings) • Cold: cereal, yogurt, apples, oranges • Bread/pastry: toast, bagels, muffins • Drinks: coffee, orange juice, milk There was nothing special or memorable about the food, but it was fresh, regularly restocked, and helped get the day started. The breakfast area got very crowded, so plan to go early if you want to grab a table. ⸻ 🧾 Overall Value – 3/5 Comfort Suites Inn offers a lot for the price: solid amenities, friendly staff, and a prime location. However, the severe parking limitations and average room quality are big enough issues to drop the overall score to 3/5. If you’re traveling light and don’t mind parking farther away—or if you arrive earlier in the day—you may have a smoother experience. Would I stay here again? Maybe—but only if they fix the parking situation or if other nearby options are unavailable. With just a few improvements, this could easily be a 4-star stay.

“Not happy with the threat to charge $25 for lost keys!”

When we checked in, they did not want to give us two keys and when we insisted, we were told if we lost one they would charge us $25. I've never heard of such a thing with these cheap-to-replace credit card shaped keys. I'd hate to misplace one or leave it in my room and not be able to prove I did… more

When we checked in, they did not want to give us two keys and when we insisted, we were told if we lost one they would charge us $25. I've never heard of such a thing with these cheap-to-replace credit card shaped keys. I'd hate to misplace one or leave it in my room and not be able to prove I did and get charged such a ridiculous amount for a key. Most hotels let you leave them in your room or drop them in a basket at the desk. They cannot unlock the door after check out time so security is NOT an issue. There are lots of hotels along that route, and we will be looking for another option in the future.
