We stayed here for a college visit. The construction appeared to be complete (I did not see any evidence of it). The pool remains closed. Breakfast is like any other, typical Hampton Inn. The rooms were recently renovated and very clean. The hallways had kind of a funny odor, almost like cigarette smoke, so I got a little worried, but our room had no odor and was fresh and clean. The staff were diligently cleaning everywhere I looked. The hotel was quite empty when we were there, but I would stay there again if traveling. There were multiple restaurants and a CVS nearby, and Worcester was less than a 10 minute drive.

We had a 2-night stay at this hotel because of travel to attend a funeral. We like Hampton Inn because it's a "known quantity" to us, and we like the free breakfast during our stays. The first thing to know about this hotel is it isn't strictly easy to find. There is a street-level Hampton Inn sign on the small side street off Route 12 where you need to turn to get to the hotel. It is easy to miss if you aren't looking carefully. As you make the turn, you go past a small group of shops on the right, a local Credit Union, a Salon, and another office before you get to a rather narrow "causeway" (it is well lighted at night) before you get to the hotel. During our stay, the exterior signage on the side of the hotel was removed as part of the work that was being done to the exterior facade of the building. In addition, between the actively working construction equipment, as well as the parking areas unavailable because of storage of pallets of construction materials, there wasn't a great deal of the parking lot available. That improved by the time we returned from the funeral on the afternoon of our 2nd night's stay. I don't know if the ongoing construction work was related to this or not, but the inside pool was also closed for an unknown period of time. The attached sign posted near the elevators shows the management's message to the guests about the ongoing construction. The interior of the hotel and hallways looked clean and recently renovated. I will note that the overhead "EXIT" signs in the 2nd floor hallway seemed a bit low. I'm 6'1" and didn't have to duck, but someone 6'3" might have too. Also, the hallways had sleek, stylish metal lights mounted on the walls at about my eye level, and these had some sharp-ish edges(!) so be careful. Our room was comfortable & well appointed. The window in our room looked out onto what would've been the back parking lot. It was where all the construction equipment/ materials were staged. The window itself was covered with translucent plastic, but there was a slit in it that afforded me a view of the lot. I wasn't thrilled when we got settled into our room and I heard the perpetual BEEP - BEEP - BEEP of equipment backing up outside. Thankfully, that stopped by about 8pm. There were two restaurants, an Applebee's and a 99 Restaurant within about a 20 minute walks on sidewalks along Rte 12. We ate at both restaurants, one on each of our two nights. Of course, we ate breakfast in the generous breakfast area each morning. There was an attendant handling the breakfast area, the same person each morning, who did NOT seem like she wanted to be there. It certainly came across in my interaction on the first morning. When I poured water & ice from one of 3 pitchers into one of the provided paper cups I had grabbed for myself, I noted as I walked away, that there was something floating in the water. It looked like clump of dust/dirt such as you'd get if you ran your finger along a baseboard that hadn't been cleaned in a while, and then swirled your finger in the water. I approached the attendant and quietly showed her what was in my cup. She asked me what it was, so I gave her my best guess. She asked if I grabbed a dirty cup, but that seemed unlikely as they are nested together & stacked upside down. She admitted it could've come from the ice machine. I looked into the pitcher I had poured from and saw some dirt on a piece of ice. I tried to show her, but she waived w/ her hand to dismiss me, saying she wasn't wearing her glasses & couldn't see anything. Well, maybe that's the problem? I dumped out the contents of my cup into the adjacent sink & poured out of another pitcher, checked my cup & went back to my table. She wandered off into the back, moaning loudly about how she only had one more day. I made sure not to have anything to do with her for the rest of my meal & the next day. Other than that, the breakfast both days was good, but the oatmeal I had the first day I found to be kind of a "gluey" consistency, though it tasted okay. Upon check-out, I asked the desk person about the construction. She mentioned that it was supposed to be completed in two weeks, but she said it in such a way as if to say, "I've heard THAT before!" The construction is supposed to be on the facade of the building itself, as well as the roof. We stayed on the 2nd floor of a three-story hotel, so not sure what a stay on the 3rd floor would be like, assuming they are even renting rooms on that floor during the construction. All in all, it was a perfectly acceptable Hampton Inn for us.

“Quiet and comfy.”

Hampton Inn comes through again. They are predictably clean, quiet and comfortable. I feel safe at this hotel chain. Prices are reasonable. It's in a good location.
