My wife and I stayed in the Water Street Inn for two nights. It is in a convenient location to downtown, very walkable had it not been bitterly cold. Parking is in a paid lot next to the hotel. Have to buzz into the lot for access. It was clear in the reservation process that parking was extra, so no surprises. The front desk was always helpful during our stay. Check-in and check-out was fast. We had to ask for extra coffee set ups and tissues for the second day, and that was immediate and friendly. We stayed in the older section of the hotel. This is not a new, ultra-modern facility. It is old and has seen a few visitors over many years. This is what we wanted. The hallways are narrow. Each room is named after a local historical figure. Our room had a blurb on our room's namesakes and their significance to the Stillwater area. The room was huge. It did not have a refrigerator, but it did have a Keurig coffee maker. The TV was quite small, but functional. Lighting was good and the room was clean. The furniture was very big and bulky; however, it was exactly what I would expect in this type of hotel. One of my concerns with an older hotel in bitter cold was a drafty room. Our room was very comfortable and remained comfortable for our entire stay. An unexpected bonus was the gas fireplace in our room. It added just enough heat and ambiance for a very comfortable evening. There is Wi-Fi in the room. Connection was easy and reliable; however, it was not able to handle a zoom audio meeting at 3:00am. Cell connection was good, so I was able to tether to my personal phone to handle work. Again, this is an old building and I am sure a bathroom in every room was not common when the building was designed. In our room the bathroom was huge, the tub was huge with two shower heads. We had plenty of hot water and the water pressure was excellent. The door to the bathroom was two metal hinged doors on each side of the door frame that made a loud creaking when one side of the door was closed. We could see the hinges for the original door. They were bulky 8 inch hinges. Obviously, this room was not originally designed to be a bathroom. Even closed, the bathroom door had three inch gaps at the top and bottom. If this had been a recently built hotel, that would have been a problem. For this room it was quaint. We visited the attached Irish pub both nights of our stay. Good food and entertainment both nights. On a scale with all hotels, this is on the pricey side. If you want a hotel with a bit of history, close to a very lively downtown, and with beautiful river view, then this is a very good choice. We will be back.
