“Dogs cost $25 per night”

We have stayed here previously on our road trips to PA with our little dog. Prior to this trip the dog was free. This trip we paid $25 for her. It isn't necessarily unreasonable, but it was disappointing when I expected the same free pet stay that we enjoyed previously.

This hotel is a solid choice for a quick, affordable stay, but it might not be for everyone. The decor is a bit dated, but the place is clean, and the front desk staff is very friendly and polite. The rooms are a good size, though the shower-tub combo is on the smaller side. The most important thing to be aware of is the location. The hotel is situated right next to a very active freight train line. While you won't hear train horns, the rumbling from the passing trains can be noticeable, especially if your room is on the back side of the building. There is also an agriculture manufacturing plant right across the street. Another thing to consider is the limited dining options nearby. Other than a McDonald's and a Subway, you'll have to drive about 15 minutes to find more restaurants. If you're just staying for a night or two and got a great rate, the hotel is perfectly fine. However, if you're sensitive to noise or want more dining options within walking distance, you may want to look elsewhere for a longer trip.. :)

For our trip to Cedar Point, we tried to find a hotel that didn't blow our budget out of the water. We settled on Country Inn & Suites Sandusky South. The lobby was fine with check in. Clean and friendly. In our room, we were immediately hit with, what was likely, years of cigarette smoke smell. Next we were hit with the sound of the air conditioner chugging along. The beds were comfortable to sleep on except the pillows are the size of the monitor you are likely reading this on. Bathrooms were clean, but dated. My wife hated that the shower has a gap in the middle with the water spray. No bugs. No questionable stains. Breakfast was very easy to pass on. Waffles were not that great for the amount of time you have to wait to get them. There is a little bit of other stuff, but not a lot. The location is right off of I-90 and about 20 minutes from Cedar Point. You would have to pay out of the nose if you want to get closer. The hotel is next to a very active train track. Surprisingly, all I heard of it was a light hum from time to time. Bottom line: If you want a budget hotel, this place is good. Just don't expect anything great.
