Traveling for Thanksgiving with family to Redmond. I haven’t stayed in a Hampton Inn since I can remember. Pretty standard mid range hotel. Redmond is small enough that even though we were next to the airport we were less than ten minutes from family in the main part of town. The noise from air traffic was not really noticeable. Despite the holiday it was uncrowded. We had our dogs with us. They have a fine little pet area with poop bags which we made good use of. We booked it the day we needed it (too long of a story to explain) and at the end of the booking it asked about pets and says it’s a $50 charge - very high but we were in a hurry so I booked anyway. When I checked in I found out it’s $50 per dog - $100 extra dollars! That is quite the profit for no real work. So pet owners be warned. I blame myself for being in a hurry and not reading carefully before I booked. But if you are traveling with pets there are a lot of similar options in Redmond and you could avoid those fees.

Quick overnight stay at this fairly new hotel. Location is good - very close to the Redmond airport. Exterior is modern and pleasant. Ground floor public space is clean, bright and cheery. However, room decor is very weak - surprisingly so for a chain like Hilton. Furniture appear to be 'Ikea' in type and quality. Primary colors, as in an elementary school. Quality of construction is low - lots of laminate peeling for such a new hotel. Biggest disappointment was the HVAC system. It worked well enough - controlled by a wall thermostat. But is was loud enough to (a) wake me from my sleep when it cycled on, and (b) while on, so loud as to make watching the TV from the bed problematic: the sound of the fans drowned out the TV dialogue and I was reluctant to turn the TV to its highest level out of concern for guests in adjacent rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was clean and pleasant, but not at all creative. This hotel would be one to aggressively price-shop.

“Unusually bad odor”

I stay here several times a year while on business. I usually choose this place over Bend because of the convenience (don’t have to deal with downtown Bend traffic to get on the road). Like I said, I usually enjoy the stay here; it also feels safe. This time I am a bit disgusted by the pet odor. I love animals, especially dogs. I’m glad dogs are allowed. But someone has brought a cat at some point that has left a fowl odor on the entire third floor. It’s like cat spray. That $$#XT just doesn’t come out with a cleaning. Whatever was sprayed by this cat is going to need a full remodel in my opinion. It is prolific across the entire third floor. ( Haven’t smelled the other floors). I also am having allergies due to the strong cat odor. If you have allergies, I highly recommend requesting a non-pet floor! Ugh.
