Not the greatest. I booked a handicapped room to have grab bars to help get in and out of the tub (bad knee). Checked in on a Thursday, reported that the tub drain lever was frozen shut ... could not shut it off to fill the tub. No one showed up until after 5 p.m. on Friday (!) and the maintenance person, extremely nice, did not know where they kept parts (she was recently brought in by new owners to fix problems). I complained to front desk, to a woman who acted as if she didn't care who lived or died. She did offer to let me change rooms, but I was already spread out in this one and with bad knee, did not want to go through the hassle. Maintenance person showed up Saturday afternoon and fixed the drain lever. Saturday night, about midnight, awoke to a strange noise: It was the low battery monitor for the smoke alarm! Kept going off every couple of minutes. Told the desk clerk Sunday morning ... maintenance person found the incident report by accident and fixed it Sunday night. Room has an odor, almost musty, likely from dirty filter in window a/c. There was no safety closure bar for the room door ... just the deadbolt. Other than the one person at the desk who could care less, the rest of the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was sparse, but adequate. I understand that this motel is recently under new management, so hope they fix things. Parking is great. There are no wake-up calls available. Grab bars for commode are ridged (and somewhat rusted); those for tub are smooth ... just opposite of what you'd expect: Need ridged for wet hands in tub/shower; don't need ridges when have dry hands at commode. Wifi is adequate, nothing to write home about. Location is fine ... easy to get to downtown and to major N/S Route 7 or E/W Route 9. Even though a rewards member, pricing is above what I expected, especially with the state of things. I'd make sure to inspect the room before I reserce it, if I ever plan to stay in Bennington again.
