Sisimiut, formerly called Holsteinsborg in Danish, is a town in West Greenland, located 75 km north of the Arctic Circle in the Davis Strait and is the northern most free ice port during the year in Greenland. Sisimiut is the capital of the municipality of Qeqqata. With approximately 5,460 inhabitants in 2010, it is the second largest settlement in Greenland. The place where the village is currently located has been inhabited for 4 500 years. Its first inhabitants were the Inuit natives and today their descendants are the main ethnic group of the town.
Qaqortoq is the biggest city on the south of Greenland. A very active city with a rich cultural activity. The city has various important companies where they work the sealskin. We can find many sculptures around the city. Qaqortoq is the educational centre of the south of the island of Greenland.
Tasiilaq, formerly Ammassalik, is a town in the Sermersooq municipality in the south east of Greenland and is the most populated town on Greenland’s east coast. Sitting just below the Arctic Circle, Tasiilaq is a picturesque and idyllic place with traditional brightly coloured houses, trickling streams and snow capped mountains surrounding the town. Home to some unique flora and fauna, the region is a strikingly beautiful place with plenty of trails and routes to walk in the summer months with stunning views, especially from Tasiilaq’s Cairn, built in 1944 to celebrate the town’s 50th anniversary.Â
Iceland is the second biggest isle of Europe and it is known as the land of ice and fire. In the capital Reykjavik, you will find a very cosmopolitan city and adapted to the times. With so much touristic variety that it will be hard to decide between glaciars or thermal waters. A city full of contrasts where you will find typical constructions and futuristic buildings, in one of the youngest countries in the world.
