Tarragona (Catalonia)

Tarragona is a port city in Catalonia in northeastern Spain. Many building remains from the time of the Roman colony of Tarraco have been preserved: the amphitheater of Tarragona from the 2nd century, which stands directly on the Mediterranean Sea, the necropolis with Roman tombs and the remains of the forum are in the medieval old town surrounded by a wall. A walk along the ramparts, the Passeig Arqueològic, offers sweeping views of the city. This iconic coastal city is just over an hour away by train from Barcelona, making it easy to experience some of the best things to do in Barcelona with just a day-trip if you wish to.
