Very nice hotel and very friendly and helpful staff😊 The hotel has its own beach. Lots of good restaurants in the neighbourhood.

We had a week at this hotel, it was very clean . Clean towels every day, which was great . We had a week at this hotel, it was very clean . Clean towels every day, which was great . There was a hairdryer, aircon and toiletries in the room .Breakfast was OK, although I bought cornflakes and took them down along with my yorkshire tea bag .But there were cereals, boiled eggs,fruit ,coffee and pastries and cakes which were lovely. The pool area was so clean and the pool was very nice. We walked out of gates and onto the beach where you have free sunbeds that are comfortable . The staff at hotel were very nice . There is either steps or a little hill to get out onto road at top ,so comfy shoes essential. You have a little walk to main area which is also good to go for drinks and food . I would definitely go back .

The main building is well built and stylish. The location was perfect for us - right on the beach, a little away from the main busy section of Sarande (10-15 minutes walk) but still plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops close by. Some beautiful sunsets over dinner on beachfront restaurants close by. The African bar next door pumps out tunes all day but this was not intrusive. The port to Corfu is a 5 minute walk away. We had a superior suite with a sea view, and it was lovely - a huge balcony with sweeping views. Our friend had a double sea view room with a smaller balcony but still beautiful views. The beach sunbeds are a fee for service business but we had this included as part of our booking. The sea is very clean and inviting for a swim but the entry is somewhat rocky so best to bring water shoes. The pool area is very nice and there were always lots of sunbeds available. The Kalcuni markets itself as “luxury” but its service is far from this. The older man especially is not suited to a hospitality role! It was not possible to run a tab to pay on checkout, nor can you get a second room key. Any extra charges were on a daily, cash only basis. Even though we stayed in June, it seemed summer had taken them by surprise - the sun beds were being pulled out of storage and re-varnished, the beach bar was under construction and the only beach towels they could provide us were tiny ones, seemingly left behind by children (Frozen, Mickey Mouse 🤣). It would have been great to be able to get food and drinks delivered to the sun-beds but this wasn’t/isn’t offered, so we wandered to neighbouring properties instead. A lot of effort went into cleaning the common areas (paths and entry) every day and these looked great but some internal maintenance issues need attending to e.g. the hot water ran out most days (this seems to be a building wide issue as our friend was on a different floor and also had cold showers). The beachside sun bed mattresses were a bit dirty. There were at least 6 regular cats on the property (a plus IMO). The breakfast room and breakfast itself need a bit of a makeover in my opinion. Normally I enjoy to linger at a hotel breakfast, but not at the Kalcuni. They have a proper coffee machine (at any extra cost) but the urn coffee was actually better and neither were good. A sandwich press but not a toaster is provided 😳. Boiling water for a cup of tea is strangely provided from a water cooler, placed in an unsafe position where the user needs to bend down in a walkway! This is a very good hotel in a great location to relax and enjoy Sarande. A few improvements are needed to make it a great hotel.
