We had a fantastic time at Tamarind Hills and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly, the beach was gorgeous, the water was perfect. We really loved our vacation. This was our second resort on Antigua, and it gave us a chance to compare some things. The beach house was a great location and the food at Wild Tamarind was really very good. We also loved the beach service. I've seen some bad reviews of the restaurant, but every meal we had was delicious. In fact, my young adult sons are inspired to try and recreate the Island Fire pizza and the Tamarind Fizz drinks. My husband is not a fish eater but ordered the Cajun Mahi Mahi skewers and raved about them. We were all surprised and delighted! We stayed at a beach house which was at the far end of the property from the main resort, and while we had to walk a little more, we loved it. We had access to BOTH Ffryes Beach and Darkwood Beach AND had a mini private beach right off of our house. We were able to snorkel basically right out our back door. We were very close to the back security gate which made taxi pickups very easy. We loved the plunge pool in the backyards. The bedrooms were spacious, cool, clean. We were very close to a good grocery store in Jolly Harbor and that made it easy to grab food to stock the house. We had breakfasts in the house, and did grill and cook at home a few nights. I'm a birder, and I loved the location next to the Darkwood Salt Pond. There were lots of great birds flying over and visiting the wetland. My kids (older teens and young adults) loved the snorkeling, the jet skis, the community pool. We also enjoyed the golf simulator and played pickleball every day!

“Paradise does exist”

Tamarind resort was a beautiful piece of paradise. I have been to many places in the world and this was my favorite by far. The room was spectacular including the views and service. The water is crystal clear and the people are extremely friendly. I will definitely be back. Thank you so much

“Amazing Beach”

Come for the beach! The beach is spectacular. Perfect sand, perfect water, quiet, beautiful. The beach was super quiet when we were there and there was never an issue getting chairs. We were there during Easter break so I assume it was crowded, yet it never felt that way. The service on the beach was decent. Often the servers came quickly to get orders but, in typical Caribbean fashion, sometimes they just didn’t show up for a 1/2 hour. There are little buttons in your palapa to press for service. The food on the beach was also decently good, same for the drinks. There isn’t much to walk to on the beach. A local beach bar or two, but that’s all. The other food at the resort left something to be desired. Breakfast was inconsistent at best. There was a small buffet the first few days we were there. Then suddenly, the location of the breakfast changed and you had to order off a limited menu. We chose to leave each night for dinner. Although we had rented a car, we rarely used it. The roads are very bad and dark and not marked. So we took cabs to dinner. The cabs were very expensive- $30 to go literally down the road. The dinner choices at the hotel were very limited so keep that in mind. Our room was about halfway up the property. Yes, it’s a lot of steps, but after lounging on the beach all day, we were happy to tackle the stairs. Our view was beautiful, the room was large and well maintained. One very odd thing was the bathroom. It had a wall of wooden slats that looked into the main bedroom area. The slats did not close. The room itself, has all large, glass windows and doors. Therefore- your shower is far from a private affair. Aside from the beach staff, we found the rest of the staff to be indifferent. We would get conflicting info from different staff members. Every day I would contact them asking for extra bath towels and everyday it would take hours to get the towels. The hotel is also a Hilton property and we were told we would receive our Hilton points after check out. Well, 3 months later we are still waiting. Hilton says the hotel itself has to take care of it, because while it’s a Hilton property, it’s not run by them( or something like that.) The hotel says they don’t have the ability to give the points. Since the hotel assured us, at checkin, that we would get the points upon leaving, this is annoying frustrating. The hotel itself is rather isolated and coupled with the difficult driving conditions, we rarely left the property. Exploring the island was more difficult than anticipated from this location. If you are looking to just chill and relax in a low key, unassuming resort then this is the perfect spot for you.
