“Good clean resort, good food, good amenities”

This was our second stay at Club Barbados, having been there some 20 years ago. Overall not much had changed, our rooms were clean and comfortable although in places looked a bit worn and tired and would benefit from a fresh lick of paint, re-grouting in the showers, etc. The pools and grounds were clean and well maintained although some of the shrubs looked parched and on their last legs. There was never any crowding around the three separate pools and we were always able to find spare sunbeds - perhaps we went at a good time as there always seemed to be plenty of space for everyone. Generally speaking the food was of a good standard - on most days it was buffet style self-service and there was a good selection of dishes at breakfast, lunch and supper. The only disappointment was on two evenings when there was a set menu with table service. We had expected this to be slightly "elevated" but were underwhelmed by the limited choice on offer (three starters, three main courses). Likewise at "Enid's" which is advertised as offering an authentic Caribbean experience but fell well short of our expectations. An example was the "seafood gumbo" which upon arrival was effectively tomato soup with a couple of prawns and chopped up seafood sticks in it. Likewise my tempura battered prawns numbered exactly three with a handful of hastily thrown on basic salad and a separate pot of chilli jam. We didn't stay for dessert. On the more positive side there is a beach barbecue once a week and, although there is some queueing involved, the grilled chicken and fish is delicious with the usual side accompaniments. The staff at the resort were pleasant and attentive although at peak periods things could get a bit chaotic - an example being check out time at 11 am when the small reception area was swamped with people wanting to settle their accounts and leave their luggage for safe keeping. There seemed to be little or no method in how this was dealt with and it was basically a matter of jostling forward to the reception desk to catch someone's attention. Perhaps it would have helped if the staff had encouraged those who had settled up to move from the reception area into the nearby lounge bar where they could continue to use the facilities until their coach arrived. Overall this resort offers good value for money and we would go again, but that won't be for several years as we have other places we would like to re-visit.

Firstly, please don’t believe the negative reviews. I for one read everything on trip advisor before I go anywhere and was a little sceptical with the reviews. Yes, the rooms are a little dated, but they were spacious….walk in wardrobe and shower. Balcony was big, free safe, iron and ironing boar… more

Firstly, please don’t believe the negative reviews. I for one read everything on trip advisor before I go anywhere and was a little sceptical with the reviews. Yes, the rooms are a little dated, but they were spacious….walk in wardrobe and shower. Balcony was big, free safe, iron and ironing board and all toiletries. Not sure what else you would need. There are no lifts, so please make sure you ask for a ground floor if you have any disability. The food is probably the best I’ve had at an all inclusive. The breakfast and lunch are buffett style with plenty of choice. Evening meal you can choose between the main restaurant and Enid’s. They ask if you want to make a dinner reservation at breakfast and you get to see both menus. Both are table service, which is amazing! Cocktails are amazing and the wine is a good standard. On behalf of us all, a huge shout out to Kareen, Sophia, Guye, Rohan and Vinnie! Honestly the best staff! Caroline the manager was present every morning talking to all the guests, which was a breath of fresh air. The only person that let the hotel down was Danielle. Very dismissive, waved her arm at my friend one day and was basically rude. I would never name names, but unfortunately rude staff has a massive reflection on the hotel and lets the other staff down! People say there is no beach, which I find quite funny. You walk down 5 steps to the left of the hotel and you’re on the prestige sandy land beach! Can people not walk 30 seconds! I would come back to this hotel in a heartbeat!!! You really won’t regret it.

“Great…but”

My husband and I just returned from this resort and overall we had a great time. Room was clean and spacious. We had a walk out to the ocean which was steps away from beautiful Sandy Lane beach. My husband and I just returned from this resort and overall we had a great time. Room was clean and spacious. We had a walk out to the ocean which was steps away from beautiful Sandy Lane beach. Sunsets were beautiful. Food very good at all restaurants. Carmella the hostess in the Sunset was lovely. The wonderful lady at the food truck…sorry didn’t get her name…thanks for taking care of my husband’s chicken wing addiction…you were awesome. Joy in the gift shop also very lovely…and she takes good care of Mary the resort cat. Now a couple of things that did bother us as people have mentioned rude staff. Most staff were very nice…however the water sports guy was very rude to my husband. We had just got to the resort and forgot our towels in the room to return. We would have brought them back after. He basically reprimanded my husband like he was a child. He’s very lucky my husband lets things go easier than I would have. The day we leave check out is 11am. Housekeeping is banging loudly on our door at 930 basically rushing us to get out. I almost stayed there until 10:45 as we have paid for it. Overall we may consider going back however rude staff really takes away from the experience.
