We had an incredible stay at Gaia Riverlodge. The property is serene, beautiful, and feels completely immersed in nature. The waterfall below the lodge essentially becomes the swimming area, which makes the entire experience feel far more unique and natural than a traditional resort pool. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. There’s no AC, which initially made us a little nervous, but with the rainforest climate it cooled off nicely at night and was very manageable during the day. The bathrooms were on the smaller side, but still functional and clean. What truly stood out was the staff. They asked our names once and somehow remembered them the entire stay, greeting us by first name every time we crossed paths. Honestly, I can barely remember names five minutes later, so I was impressed. But the absolute best part of this place is the FOOD. It was genuinely top notch. This is true farm-to-table dining. As you enter the resort, you pass the gardens and chicken coop, and somehow everything that comes out of the kitchen tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. Every single meal we had was delicious, and I honestly couldn’t believe how good some of the dishes were considering how remote the location is. One of the coolest experiences was in the morning when guests could go harvest their own eggs and vegetables for breakfast. Now that’s farm to table — and honestly just really fun. There’s no gym onsite, but between the steep walk down to the waterfall and the outdoor spa, you’ll definitely get some cardio in. The spa itself is very simple — more of an outdoor tent setup — but hearing the waterfall while getting a treatment made it incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We also appreciated how accommodating the staff was. We brought our own wine and champagne, and they clearly knew exactly how to handle that situation. They immediately offered us Yeti coolers filled with ice for our drinks, which was such a nice touch. We did both the horseback riding excursion and the cave tour, and both were amazing. One note for future guests: the horseback riding is the real deal. If you’re not an avid rider, know that you’ll be on horseback for about 3 hours, so wear appropriate pants unless you want to regret your life choices halfway through the ride. Overall, an unforgettable stay and a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy Belize’s natural beauty.

The wife and I had an excellent stay! Beautiful views of waterfalls (Five Sisters & Big Rock), great food from the restaurant, staff were super friendly and helpful! Booked a tour of Barton Creek Cave and Xunantunich through Gaia and our guide, Calbert, was awesome and very knowledgeable of the history. Overall, we would definitely recommend Gaia to anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path!

“Faultless”

We stayed for 2 nights as part of a long trip through Mexico & Belize. The hotel is faultless. The welcome was perfect, friendly & efficient, & highly professional. To have a welcome drink (with rum!) with first sight of the breathtaking view was just fabulous. The setting in Mountain Pine Ridge is beautiful & it’s wonderful after drinking in the view from high up at the hotel, to be able to relax in the seating & sunbathing area down by the waterfalls. Also nice not to have to walk back up, the little funicular was fun! Food fabulous. All the service throughout was fabulous, from the front desk to the talented barman & finally to Rik, our exceptional guide who took us on a bird watching tour and to explore Barton creek caves. There is nothing to improve Gaia River Lodge, this is clearly a small hotel that has absolutely nailed it & is excellently managed.

“Sophisticated and Friendly Rainforest Living”

I traveled to Gaia Riverlodge in early April 2026 as part of their 'Rainforest and Reef' package. I had not been to Belize previously, and my family wanted to experience both areas. Gaia is a unique property, set in a secluded area some 2 hours from the Belize City Airport, nestled in a pine rainforest with lots of ambiance and with access to a lovely river area with five waterfalls. From our first impressions, we can say that the people at Gaia were all very nice, friendly and accommodating. We especially enjoyed spending time with our drivers, Greg and Randolph - Greg was our tour guide on our tour of the Caracol Mayan area, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The bartenders, front desk and food service staff were also friendly and personable. We liked the spaciousness and versatility of our casita and the ability to travel easily down to the river on their two-person funicular tram. I'm glad we visited. It being the rainforest, we did have some rain, including one large thunderstorm that unfortunately some of our party was caught in. There were also lots of bugs (they have those nets over the beds for a reason) and a few warmer nights where I wished our casita had air conditioning. Our trip included meals, and the quality of everything we ate was mainly good, especially all of the breads, pastries and the in-house made ice cream. I may have liked a little more variety at mealtimes, though the menu did have some good options it did not change. My wife indulged in a massage, which they do in a little tent by the river area, and she said it was wonderful. The transportation to and from the lodge and to tours were all expertly handled and went smoothly. Extra extra shout out to Greg for always keeping cold water and cold bottles of Belikin Beer in the truck. If you are thinking of trying out the rainforest, certainly Gaia would be an excellent choice - you can't control the weather, but the friendly people more than make up for it.
