Not enough sunbeds, was not happy at getting up.at 7 each morning to get a sunbed, I'm on holiday I was not impressed. The hotel was very clean and the cleaners were great. The.lafy who worked in the coffee shop needs to learn how to.smile.and.yo.syop.being so grumpy, sometimes she wouldn't even talk just looked angry all the time. The seating outside .. well there is not enough people were having to stand up or take their drinks.back to their room which is what we had to.do.on.sevetal.occasions, the food is great as always and the alacarte restaurants were also very good. I would not return to the hotel.as.i believe this hotel needs a total refurbishment. I have been to Riu hotels throughout the world.and this.definatly needs.some.money.spending on it.now. I love Cape Verde and will be back one.day hopefully after a refurbishment has taken place to bring this back.to.a.five star to.

The hotel is nice. The room are older but well maintained and cleaned up but a new matras is needed. We stayed in the adult part but had access to the amenities of the whole resort. The pool area was nice however the covers on the chairs were old and dirty, and you only get 1 towel, luckely i had some towels with me so it could be covered. The chairs at the beach area old, very old and most have clear marks were people sat. And here no covers so not comfortable. Food was good, and ample choice as you would expect from buffet. The staff is great and friendly

Where to even start with this... We got a very cheap deal through TUI - x2 adults, 5* all inclusive with flights and transfers for a week (we thought bargain) this simply is not a 5* hotel. I'll start with the positives: Hotel: It is clean, beds are really comfy. Room 4109 is massive and next to the pool area, in the middle of most things and wasn't a far walk away from anything. Spa: This is what makes this hotel feel 5*. The jacuzzi was lovely but you do have to book 30 mins in advance to use it. The relaxing massage we booked was one of the best I have had. Staff: Staff were so fun and friendly, apart from the pool bar staff who were miserable and quite rude. RIU Friday party: AMAZING experience - white part night was incredible. Entertainment team work so hard all day everyday and I cannot fault the entertainment team AT ALL. Now onto the bad bits... Food: Absolutely shocking. Weatherspoon's in the UK does nicer food than here! Buffet was atrocious and hardly anything left - they could not keep up to demand lots of empty dishes. We tried prime time for lunch and evenings and also early and lates and it was the same throughout. Cakes at the buffet are completely tasteless - and clearly sometimes used leftovers from the day after as some were soggy. Breakfast was hit and miss - the white glazed donuts were lovely but sometimes the beans tasted sour. One or two days had no bacon or saussage either, not sure if it was a delivery issue. The restaurants onsite you have to book 3 days in advance via the app, and the steak restaurant served a 5oz steak which is TINY. I had the surf and turf but didn't eat the prawns as I was told to stay away from shellfish. The pudding platter was everything left over from the snackbar lunch buffet! We also ate at Kulinarium which was no better, the scallop starter had a bug on it and the waitress had to take it away as soon as she put it down and get a new one so we didn't even touch that. The banoffee pie didn't taste of banana, and the banana inside was off and black. The restaurants lack atmosphere they need some music on - it was just awkward. You can ask the bars to give you nuts for snacks while drinking (this isn't advertised anywhere but we were told about it) Sunbeds really need updating, these are uncomfy, old, worn away. The rooms do need a lick of paint. Cleaners on a morning were SO loud really early outside our rooms. Air con in the room was also horribly loud and the fan was not calibrated properly so that was also not right. When you leave the hotel to walk to the beach, you are instantly accosted by locals trying to get you to book on their tours, they line up either side and it's quite intimidating and annoying. If you want a week in the sun, with not alot to do, rubbish food and no atmosphere in restaurants, this is the place for you! I would not return. This was my first time trying a RIU hotel and someone we met said the food is the same throughout all RIU hotels which has put me off booking one in future!
