I planned my sister’s 40th birthday celebration in Cape Verde, and as an event planner, I wanted everything to be perfect. We knew very little about the destination and had to make a last-minute change, so we chose Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa because it was one of the few resorts that could accommodate our entire group. From our very first interaction, Elisa was absolutely amazing. She was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly responsive. She took the time to answer every question we had, explained the resort’s amenities in detail, and connected us with the right people to help bring our celebration to life. Her willingness to go above and beyond gave us confidence and made the planning process so much easier. What impressed us even more was that her exceptional service didn’t stop once we arrived. Throughout our stay, Elisa made sure thoughtful touches were in place to make our celebration feel special and memorable. Her attention to detail and genuine care for our group truly elevated our entire experience. The hospitality at Meliá Llana was outstanding, and the staff made us feel welcome from beginning to end. A special thank you to Elisa for making what could have been a stressful planning process into an unforgettable experience. “Great Hotel and holiday”

The hotel is about 15minutes transfer from Espargo airport. The hotel is very spacious. Clean and tidy. Once checked in at reception you have to pay 20euroa per towel and you get that back when you return your token given by reception, when you collect your towel down near the level up area they take the towel token off you and you get this back when you return your towels when your leaving. There is plenty of staff down to waiting on, bar, cleaners, repair workers milling around the hotel daily. We had a swim up room that was very clean and spacious with towels and bedding changed daily, there are robes in the room for use. Air conditioning and hairdryer. You have a fridge which has 2 beers, 2 coke, 2 Fanta, 2 sprite, sparkling water. still water is left daily by the cleaner. You just ring reception if you need it topping up. There is no iron or ironing board in the room but you just need to ring reception and they will deliver one. The pool area has plenty of lounges you don’t have to fight to get on any, with the Safira bar which is by the main pool where the animation team do aqua aerobics, water polo snd sandbag game. The vista snack bar has plenty of choice for food, the Caesar salad was very nice. The service at all the bars is excellent, the staff are very polite and helpful. The vista snack bar around 5pm has some entertainment, you may get involved in a little dancing. They also have a saxophonist who was really good. There is an entertainment schedule and exercise schedule which is displayed in various locations across the hotel. The one we always looked at was on the wall on the way up to the mosaic restaurant. This is the buffet restaurant and there is plenty of choice of food for breakfast, lunch and evening meal, we usually went in the morning and evening. Once you give in your room number you just get your own table either inside or outside and staff will come to you regarding drinks, in the morning they walk around with coffee, tea and hot milk prepared in large silver containers and once pies they leave them on your table, you also have a choice of still or sparkling water. There are juices and other teas available as well. Lunch and evening they have trays with white, red, rose wine with sparkling water, if you require soft drinks is or beer they will bring those out to you. I had to go to the Avenue Bar when I asked for a gin and sprite which is just outside the mosaic. This is a very chilled bar that late afternoon has singer/guitarists playing daily. The animation team do a great job throughout the day and the evening with their Tabata and dance classes along with the other classes available. We done Tabata twice and it was very good, it was with Cristiano and Steven (baby Steven) as we called him, he was young and learning the ropes. There is an Italian restaurant Cas Nostra which you need to book and get one free time when staying for a week, we were there 2 weeks so went twice and the food was very nice, we ordered lasagne and it was very tasty, it doesn’t come out like a normal lasagne but don’t let that put you off. We ordered some wine off the menu which was nice rather than the house wine, just for a change. There is also a Japanese restaurant but we didn’t visit it as my husband is not to keen on Japanese food. The Laguna beach is joined onto the Melia and you can walk through by the gymnasium and spa which is in the centre of both hotels. We didn’t try any treatments as we don’t really do them tbh, but it looked very nice all the same. The gym has plenty of room for a workout It can get busy so be mindful. The late bar in the melia is the Azul bar and in the laguna it is The Brig. most people tended to stay in the Azul bar. Although is states open until 2am it didn’t have people out that late and the hotel is very quiet, no rowdiness. The bikini beach bar is as it says on the beach, we ventured down but didn’t drink or eat there, they do packages which are available at the reception, you can also upgrade to the level up which can also be done at reception and this gives you branded drinks options and a topper for your bed as they are quite hard. There is also Marley bar on the beach which is very chilled they do food and snacks there, they also have lots of chairs/tables and a fire pit for the evening as it can get quite breezy down there. Reasonably priced as well. They have a small pool if you wanted to spend some time down there. The hotel has beds in the beach but no cushions so you need to use your towel. It is a bit of a walk down to the sea from the beds but not too far, just be wary as the sand gets extremely hot on your feet as the day goes on. The sea was nice and warm, I am not much for swimming in the sea just tend to cool down and paddle. There are plenty of trips you can do if you wish. We didn’t bother with trips as we just wanted to chill in the hotel or beach. Roy nice man is in the front and most people tend to book with him. You can go snorkelling, diving, quad biking, catamaran trips, an island tour, buggy tour, zipline, shark watching, horse riding, turtle watching. Our experience in the Melia Llana was fantastic, all the staff are so nice and friendly and always greet you. A special shout out to Janette your evening host at the Mosiac who was always so happy and greeted you every evening with a lovely smile and spoke with you and asked about your day. She is always helping people and accommodating them throughout the evening. I would definitely recommend the Melia Llana, we did go and visit the Melia Dunas and Tortuga, for us the Melia Llana was the best as it was adults only and the layout and set up far better then the other hotels. However it is personal preference and of course if you have families the other hotels are for you.

In particular, the team at “The Sails” in the neighboring Melia Laguna Resort—Osias, Elida, Kevin, and Luis. Likewise, the team at La Serena—Zuleka, Antonio, Rony, and everyone else. The service is so attentive and very friendly. We went there every evening to enjoy the delicious food, the sensational cocktails, and the hospitality. Together, we created a cocktail that we hope will make it onto the menu. Be sure to ask Osias for a “Fortuna,” as we’ve named it. Breakfast is just as special. After just two days, André and Lindinalva know your preferences and automatically bring your favorite drinks and breakfast items. So kind and thoughtful. Just so warm and welcoming. At Level, Elisete, Elisa, and Sidney are especially attentive and fulfill every request. The Level Bar has a top-notch team with Daniel, Shirley, Yarun and Nicole. Carlos from the towel station is also very attentive and friendly. I’ve probably left out so many names. But to be honest, it’s you all who keep bringing us back to Sal time and time again. Thanks also to Kimber and Luis for the warm welcome. The Teppanyaki show is also fantastic. Delicious food and a fantastic show. Nelson, Mali, Helio, and Ricardo always take such good care of us and give us a warm welcome. The team is simply amazing, and you all always do your best to make our vacation perfect.
