This hotel has definitely allowed me to redefine my former thoughts of what is a budget hotel. Whenever I thought “budget hotel,” I always thought of a hotel that was past its prime & a hotel that was dingy, dark, faded & completely 3rd rate. However, this hotel is completely the opposite of those things. To start, the staff at this hotel is genuinely so kind to their guests & they are equally kind & respectful toward each other. The staff is more than efficient at what they do in their professions & this allows the Ibis Budget Itagüí to have such a “feel good” comfortability. The manager here has chosen a wonderful team & your guests thank you very much! I stayed here for 24 nights & I don’t think I’ve ever felt more welcomed in any other hotel before. My room was very comfortable, with cozy linens & pillows. I slept beautifully in the bed each night. There’s a big curtained window in each room, which covers most of the wall, allowing natural sunlight to enter the room. You can’t open the windows, but the Ibis Budget Itagüí hotel is fresh & clean... & even though I do enjoy fresh air in my room, I have not one complaint with this hotel! The TV is great (with several English channel options) & electrical outlets were conveniently located throughout my room. My Internet was so fast & air-conditioning functioned perfectly. The elevators are very quick & I never waited long for one. Breakfast each morning was surprisingly more extensive than I had imagined, with many fresh fruits, omelettes to order, cereals, yogurts, breads, 2 fresh juice choices & delicious Colombian coffee with heated milk was available. The staff working in the restaurant was always so accommodating & friendly. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I get hungry & I could always go downstairs to the hotel lobby, where they have a nice selection of sandwiches & pizzas (which they gladly heated for me). There’s lots of beverage options & chips & chocolates, etc. Security is always present on the street level, as you enter the hotel, & they ensure the security of guests & staff without being intrusive. The security staff is also very polite, but efficient at what they need to do, in order to ensure everyone’s safety. This hotel is spotlessly clean with a phenomenal cleaning staff. Sometimes I would leave my room around dinner time and they would still clean my room spotlessly & they would change the sheets for me whenever I requested. The hotel appears to be a very new & a modern building. I think they just celebrated their 2nd anniversary here. On the street level, located inside this hotel building, is a bakery called Tostao’ Cafe & Pan. Everything there is delicious & all of the pastries are very French! Next-door (still inside & on the street level of the Ibis Budget Itagüí building) is a delicious & comfortable family restaurant called Burrata, which is owned by a husband & wife & their little boy. The food is delicious, with a daily menu of the freshest ingredients & tasty food. I enjoyed many of my meals here al fresco, on their comfortable sidewalk dining area. My Wi-Fi from the Ibis Budget Itagüí worked perfectly, while dining at Burrata restaurant because I was literally still at the hotel. On the corner of the Ibis Budget Itagüí building is another bakery that’s worth some attention too. Also, there is a Pharmacy amongst all of these sidewwalk establishments, again all located inside the Ibis Budget Itagüí building. Many of my needs were met in this one hotel building. But, of course, I wanted to venture out & explore the 3 Medellin neighborhoods of Itagüí, Sabaneta & Envigado & I’m grateful that I did so. The Itagüí Metro Station is only about a 3 minute walk from the hotel & Medellín has an excellent, efficient, safe & clean metro system. Continue walking past the Itagüí Metro Station entrance & you’ll arrive at Mayorca Mega Plaza in just 3 more minutes of your walk. It’s an elevated pedestrian-only walk that crosses the Medellín river & it’s very safe & well populated. I walked there most every day because I joined the SmartFit gym, located 6 minutes away on foot from the Ibis Budget Itagüí. This hotel is a budget hotel (without the feel of being in a budget hotel), & therefore there is no gym & there is no pool. There’s no refrigerator in your room & you don’t get complementary bottled water. It’s OK, because this hotel makes up for itself in so many other ways. I never felt like I was in a budget hotel, while I was here. Accor Hotels has impressed me in the past & Accor’s continued to impress me during my stay at Ibis Budget Itagüí. Since there’s no room service here, I would often get something from one of the restaurants in the mall & bring it back to my room, just in case I got hungry later. it was a fantastic stay & my check out was very efficient & they were very clear about any additional charges to my bill. The staff knows exactly what they’re doing & they were very fair as to what were my additional charges to my bill. Thank you again! I must add one more part to my review before I end it... I got sick 2 days into my stay here at the Ibis Budget Itagüí. I was getting worried about my health & I went downstairs to the front desk & told them what was going on with me & that I’ve had this same health problem before. It’s not communicable & I needed an ambulance & hospital care. They asked me if I needed assistance going back to my room while I waited on the ambulance & I told them no. The hotel texted me with the price of what the ambulance would be via WhatsApp & I agreed to the price. The ambulance came & admitted me into the hospital, without me having to go through the whole ordeal of being in a foreign country & dealing with the red tape bureaucracy of getting admitted to a hospital on my own. While I was in the hospital, to my surprise, the Ibis Budget Itagüí staff checked on my recovery several times via personal WhatsApp messages to my iPhone. They even asked me if I wanted my room cleaned, because I had the ‘do not disturb’ sign still on my hotel room door. I agreed to having it cleaned & when I returned from the hospital, the staff had organized my room so meticulously, with all of my strewn personal items neatly placed on the shelves & my clothes placed on hangers, which I had left on the floor. Everything that I had taken out of my bags had been painstakingly organized for my return. Of course, no one had gone into my luggage. They took good care of the items that I had sloppily scattered around my hotel room, which were quite a bit of items, I’m embarrassed to say. But, I was sick & frantically searching for things in my luggage. It touched my heart to see how caring the staff was toward me. I’ll end my review here by thanking all of the staff once more & I’m very humbly grateful to give Ibis Budget Itagüí a solid 5 Star rating. I hope to stay here again. You all are wonderful people 🙏🏻
