If you are looking for the absolute best service you will find anywhere in the world, look no further than the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara. This property is truly iconic, and our recent stay completely exceeded our expectations on every level. Perfect Location & One-of-a-Kind Rooms First, you cannot beat the location. Sitting right in the walled city, it provides the perfect base for exploring the city and nightlife safely. The hotel itself is breathtaking, and the rooms are truly one-of-a-kind. "Here, Anything is Possible" What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. There is a palpable theme and culture among the employees: "Here, anything is possible." This isn't just a catchphrase; they live and breathe it. Their philosophy regarding families and guests: "We focus on our guests first, and when they have kids, that means making sure they are happy—because if they are happy, you will be happy." In other words, they understand hospitality on a fundamental level. Next-Level Butler Service & Special Mentions The signature butler service is an incredibly unique and valuable perk that elevates the entire experience. I want to leave some special remarks for the individuals who made our trip unforgettable: Rudy (Lead Butler) & Alejandro (Butler): Rudy treats this hotel as his home, a place he cares deeply about, and the guests as visitors into his home. He is exceptional. Just the care he takes in explaining the hotel’s history tells you how much he cares about what he does. He leads by example and this is seen throughout your stay and work with the other butlers. Alejandro is one of his butlers and he is exceptional as well. He looks for ways to help whenever possible. Both of these gentlemen could write a book on how to be exceptional, humble, and always present. The Entire Butler Staff: I know Rudy and Alejandro operate as part of a larger team. And clearly, Rudy and Alejandro are well served by their team. Our stay was perfectly managed and needs perfectly catered to by this team. Jesus (Concierge): The Rudy + Jesus combo allow this hotel to live by a mantra of “where anything is possible.” Jesus helped us with literally everything we needed in and beyond the hotel. He also made sure our room was perfect and helped to coordinate our plans. Oriana (Server): I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Oriana. She was always on top of her service to us at breakfast. Every morning she provided excellent service and even when we spilled yogurt across the floor and later broke a glass, she made us feel like it was as simple as spilled milk. Final Thoughts I truly believe you could put Rudy, Alejandro, and Jesus in any hotel in the world and they would make it exceptional regardless of circumstances. The Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is more than just a place to sleep; it is a masterclass in hospitality. If you are traveling to Cartagena, do yourself a favor and book your stay here. On August 1, 2026, The Santa Clara (Sofitel Legend) hotel hosted my daughter’s wedding reception and pre-wedding events along with the numerous guests attending the full weekend of celebration. It was a resounding success!! My husband and I started planning the event about 15 months out without knowing any Spanish and as Americans who had never traveled to South America. We were able to visit once before the event (approximately 8 months in advance) and meet the staff in person and confirm the choices made. From the beginning, while still only meeting by phone, email and WhatsApp, the hotel leadership and staff quickly put my mind at ease with a very professional process. I never was in the dark about what I owed and when. This is especially important when planning a larger scale event. The hotel also worked hand in hand with our event planner and decorator, as well as with the numerous musical artists and extra vendors. I felt as though the hotel was a co-strategist in identifying and meeting our dreams and unique needs. The entire Santa Clara staff patiently worked with us and our guests (many of whom did not speak Spanish) to create a magical and effortless event. Our every dream came true!!! My daughter and her husband could not have been more happy with the results and their experience. The food was some of the best I have ever tasted in my life. Air conditioning worked incredibly well in the reception hall. Transportation coordinated with and by the hotel was flawless. The staff arranged tours for guests and also assisted with restaurant and Spa reservations and day time activity recommendations. Angie Palencia (our chief contact for coordination and weekend of activity) was one of the kindest and most emotionally intelligent service leaders I have ever had occasion to know. There were many other employees that I came to know by first name and, of course, the general manager in charge (who stepped in to help one guest with a quickly resolved room issue). Every single person serving guests was attentive and interested in the hotel’s reputation for hospitality. Wow - just wow. I will be back for pure fun to enjoy more of the pool and the Spa. We have family in Colombia now and I feel as though the Santa Clara is one of our Tennessee family’s homes now.

“Good experience in a Convent”

The location is magic. Inside old Convent of Santa Clara. Food is very good, but service not at the same level. Especially in the pool where they are distracted and not proactive to the clientele.

Great location and beautiful historic property. The pool and courtyard for breakfast are wonderful. Feels like a resort property. The food quality has changed a bit, the best food was the poolside bbq. The Jardín restaurant food has lost a bit of flavor and quality. The Clarisa salad with an addition of cold grilled chicken was very disappointing. The service was attentive and the crew members were very pleasant. The room was adequate, clean and comfortable. Slept like babies.
