Let me start of by saying that the staff at GHL Hotel were VERY helpful. The minute we walked through the door we were treated like family. The check in process was very easy and quick. We didn't have to worry about our luggage the hotel handled all of that. The room were very clean. The rooms had a small sink near the entry door which I'm not sure why, a small closet, small refrigerator which included snacks and drinks (at a cost of course). I did notice that the hotel did not furnish face towels. Only had 2 towels and a hand towel. I did ask the front desk if any face towels were available and the response was we don't supply those. We were able to pickup a few face towels at the dollar store. The pool was amazing (kiddy pool and adult pool). The loved the location of the hotel. Was not far from the airport about 10 to 15 mins. The hotel is not that close to a grocery store but its a 10min cab drive. There is a small convince store on the property but will be limited on some things. The hotel sits on the beach shore which I took a beach walk every morning. The hotel restaurant was EXCELLENT!!!. The food was outstanding and very cheap. Although we did not know that much Spanish the staff was very helpful to cater to us and using our phone translator came in handy. I would have never thought I would have visit Colombia but now that I have I can't wait until I go back. This was a truly a great vacation. Thank you GHL Hotel Relax Costa Azul for a wonderful time. “Wouldn’t Hesitate to Return”

Couldn’t fault the hotel. It’s about 15km from Santa Marta, roughly 35k COP taxi. The location is right on the beach and has two lovely pools. The restaurant is good too with very good prices. Around £5 for a main meal and dessert around £1.50. The staff are all super friendly and the views… more

Couldn’t fault the hotel. It’s about 15km from Santa Marta, roughly 35k COP taxi. The location is right on the beach and has two lovely pools. The restaurant is good too with very good prices. Around £5 for a main meal and dessert around £1.50. The staff are all super friendly and the views from the hotel are of the ocean and the mountains on the other side. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Let me start by saying that this hotel is far from Santa Marta. Its approx 15km away, so any cab that you take, the fare will be a bit pricey (we are not foreigners). I will try to break the review by areas, so I will start with the checking process. Once we arrived we were greeted by the recepcionist, she was very attentive, briefly explained the amenities, and checked us in. We waited for our room to be ready. The room we had was in a 5th floor with ocean view. The room was simple yet comfortable. 2 beds, smarttv, a/c etc etc. The beds ands pillows were comfortable and more importantly the housekeeping ladies did a great job. The restaurant offers a buffet only for breakfast (20.000 COP p/p) . The choices could have been a bit more "international" . It offers soup , rice, scrambled eggs and some protein (chicken,beef,pork) for the hot dishes. Fresh fruit only papaya, pineapple and watermelon. For juices, OJ and another kind. There is no omelett station, although you can order fried eggs or an omelette directly from the server. There is waffle iron to make your own waffles. Variety of breads plus local pastries and local baked goods. The prices for lunch and dinner can be a bit pricey. The food is good. The pool area is great, lots of space. Two big pools (kiddy pool and adult pool) however is missing ambience, some background music would be nice. There is a pool bar but apparently only opens on weekends and the servers are not bartenders , the drinks were terrible. I dont recommend them. The beach area is quiet, relaxing and of course there are vendors coming to your tent every 5 min offering food, drinks, trinkets etc etc. My husband and I had a great time. If you have children its great for families too. If you are a couple its also amazing. I can and will recommend this hotel. If you have other questions I can gladly answer them.

“Close to airport”

Showing its age. Needs better maintenance. Cleanliness ok. Service ok. On a Sunday waited until 5 PM for an early check in. Staff overwhelmed. Food ok. Good location 10 min from Santa Marta airport. Popular with locals. Very nice beach and pool.
