I Recently had the pleasure of staying at Selvario 36 located in Poblado, Medellin. Just like anything there were positives and negatives to my stay. The positives did outweigh the negatives. Positives: The staff were very kind and accommodating. I celebrated a birthday while visiting and each staff member greeted me and wished me a happy birthday. A special thanks to Juan Pablo, Juan Guillermo, and the night staff that work the front desk. The hotel is centrally located, the rooms are decorated well, and are sound proofed! The hotel bed and linens were comfortable, and I enjoyed the special touch of locally sourced soap and lotion provided in the room. Cons: A major con was that the hotel pool was not in service for the entirety of my stay. Although the hotel made accommodations for entry to a rooftop pool at a hotel nearby, the convenience of having a pool on site is unmatched. If I am being honest, I do not think I would sacrifice a rooftop pool for a stay here, but, I was informed that they are looking to have it functioning soon. Another con was room storage space. Although, I had a a suite, there weren’t any closets. Staying for 7 days, I found myself utilizing under bed storage and my suitcase for my clothes (I am normally an unpacker). Not to nitpick, but, the room was a little small to include the balcony. But it was comfortable. Over all the hotel itself with the pool being out of order, I rate it a 7/10. However, the staff service 10/10 bring the hotel up to an average of 8.5. I genuinely must say they were very accommodating and kind, and make up for the hotel’s shortcomings.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Poblado and within walking distance to most things you'll need to have a great stay. Rooms were tastefully decorated and incorporate both a modern twist with naturally green elements found in Medellin. However, I booked the Superior King and it was very small. There was very limited storage space, no closets or other storage areas, and it seems like they designed for one, not two people to share the room. Single hangers for towels, single chair, single everything. Breakfast was good but options were limited. All menu items were Americanized; hotel should consider adding at least one Colombian dish. Minifridge in the room did not work. Juan - the front desk manager was excellent. Warm, welcoming and accommodating.

I am disappointed that the hotel charged an overnight guest fee for a brief visit by a local friend that lasted only one to two hours. The visitor did not stay overnight or make use of any hotel facilities. In our extensive travels, friends and family have often visited us at hotels for short periods, and we have never been charged for such visits. More importantly, this policy and the specific fee were never disclosed during booking or at check-in. Had we been informed in advance, we could have made an informed decision about whether to stay at the hotel, particularly given our plans to meet local friends and family. While I understand and respect the hotel's security policies, charging an overnight guest fee for a short visit without prior disclosure is unreasonable and unfair. We respectively raised these concerns with the hotel staff and requested that the charge be waived by the manager. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response from the manager until more than 24 hours later. When a response finally arrived, our appeal was simply declined without addressing the specific issues we raised regarding the reasonableness of the charge and the lack of prior disclosure. This was both disappointing and unhelpful. Separately, the hotel was also very noisy until approximately 3:00–4:00 a.m. due to its location. While I understand this may be outside the hotel's control, it nonetheless affected the quality of our stay.
