This is a solid, comfortable hotel and exactly what you’d hope for at this price point. Clean rooms, air conditioning that actually works, a decent pool, and overall great value for the money. No complaints there. But what really put this place over the top was Luis, the hotel manager. From the start, he had that calm, cool, trustworthy energy — helped in no small part by the fact that he was wearing an Atticus Finch shirt. At that moment I thought, “Alright… this is clearly a man of character.” Sure enough, after I had already left the hotel, Luis personally texted me with a photo of my Kindle and a very expensive pair of glasses I’d accidentally left behind. Luckily, I had my phone number written on the back of the Kindle (this was, unfortunately, the second time I’ve lost it), which made getting in touch easy. No drama, no hesitation — just pure honesty and kindness. Thanks to him (and a friendly fellow guest who helped with the handoff), everything made it safely back to me. Any tiny issue anyone could ever have with a hotel completely disappears when you’re treated like that. Luis restored my faith in humanity, and that alone makes this a five-star stay. I’d absolutely come back.

“A wonderful place to stay”

A side trip to Santa Teresa was a last-minute decision and after quickly scanning the options I chose the Esencia Hotel and Villas. I am happy I did. A side trip to Santa Teresa was a last-minute decision and after quickly scanning the options I chose the Esencia Hotel and Villas. I am happy I did. This property is located closer to the end of the strip. The rooms are clean comfortable. The grounds are expertly landscaped and beautiful. A wonderfully refreshing pool area is available. I stayed two nights, but as the original plan was only one night, I stayed in a room at the top of the hill, while the second night I stayed in a villa. Both were charming. Unfortunately it seems this platform will allow you to upload pictures but not videos. The only drawback to staying in a room at the top of the hill is that I was not able to drive as close to the room as I might like. So if you have a fair amount of luggage, be aware that you will have to carry it 50 yards or so. With the villa I was able to park right in front. The front desk staff was very helpful. There was easy access to the beach. And numerous dining options, a short walk away. The villa that I stayed in had a separator between the king size bed, and the twin beds, thus offering privacy. the place is right on the main road , 5 minutes from the path to the beach. the cabana was big but not lighted enough and the curtains were red so in the morning the sun light waked us . there is not service to the rooms so it is hard to manage with the luggage. the place is right on the main road , 5 minutes from the path to the beach. the cabana was big but not lighted enough and the curtains were red so in the morning the sun light waked us . there is not service to the rooms so it is hard to manage with the luggage. A nice thing over there are the iguanas that are all over the peremises and the pool in the center.

The hotel is located in what is probably the best part of town, with relatively easy access to a good surf point (it's still a walk and a half to get to the water, but that's always the case unless you are right on the beach). Rooms are large, but their age shows. Showers offer either good water flow or hot water, but not both. I had to basically hike to my room that was located at the top of the hill. The hotel lacks the charm and cool factor of Somos, that's right next door. It is across the street from the only "disco" in town, but the place seemed to be a bit of a dive. The hotel doesn't offer late checkout at all, which I found problematic.
