“Room with a view”

Wonderful room with a view! Beautiful property. Walk across to the beach wasn’t as convenient. The pool is great, refreshing . The service by the pool could be sporadic when large tour groups arrived wasn’t staffed enough. The food was consistent and delicious.

The rooms were large, and the pool area was spotless and beautiful. The buffet breakfast was delicious, but when the buffet was not offered, the breakfast was average. Ashly, our server, was kind and attentive! The downside to the room was the lack of drawers or places to hang wet bathing suits. The bathroom included only one hook. Laundry service was 36.00 USD for a small bag. We were only able to see a small sliver of the ocean from our room. Ask for a room overlooking the pool for the best view of the ocean. Be prepared to walk up and down hills to your room and the beach.

This hotel has a lot of positives , but also some down sides. Firstly it’s not beach side bungalows , it’s a walk downhill across a road from the bungalows. Most bungalows don’t even have a sea view. We had a top floor studio which was huge ( bigger than anyone would ever need !) and though our view was the best of the bungalows Infact very beautiful. It could only be admired / seen if you were standing up . You couldn’t enjoy the view with your morning coffee or evening drinks . It felt like sitting in a bunker as the brick wall was so high. Two high stools were provided but not the most comfortable for relaxing . The hotel itself was friendly , mostly good service , lovely breakfasts , great pool . However I would strongly advise not to get a massage at this hotel , meant to be a relaxing luxury , it was far from it . Expensive and an awful experience that I wouldn’t want any other guest to go through . A masseur who was very unwelcoming , made an awkward atmosphere that was hard to relax with. Finished abruptly without any offer of water or taking your time to relax after. I came away feeling most uncomfortable. I did point this out on the day that we left when reception asked for feedback . It was decided that e mailing my concerns to the manager would be the best approach . I did so and was most disappointed that having asked for feedback back my feedback wasn’t taken seriously at all. No reply from manager , chased up several times to be brushed off. Even one message back to say ‘ I hadn’t requested any courtesy ! Surely something a guest should never have to request ! It did leave a very bitter taste from our stay , seemed although the hotel ethos is the comfort and relaxation of all guests when it came to the opposite being the case they certainly weren’t interested . I have since read similar reviews re the bad massage experience and the darkness of the top floor balconies . Wish I’d read it all before as yes these two aspects definitely let down an otherwise enjoyable hotel .

Starting with the positive this resort is near a large, quiet, beautiful beach. The rooms are clean and well maintained as is the restaurant which has beautiful views. But, understand these are ocean view, NOT beach front. They are close to the beach, down the hill and over the road, to a beautiful, peaceful beach. The resort is spread over a hill, the paths between buildings and to the pool and restaurant are, in places, very steep. The rooms are beautifully, contemporarily designed with superb windows and a private balcony. Our room has two king size beds, but only one 2-person sofa to sit on. The design is fully open-plan with NO door, just a wall, between the living space, the bathroom, and even the toilet, others are more private. There aren’t any drawers for clothes. They do not offer beach towels.
