Before we arrived, the reviews had us nervous we were making the wrong decision. But now that we have stayed, our balanced review is yes, there were a couple things that could use improvement but we loved our stay and had an amazing time. Pros: 1. The pools and their layout: they are tiered and sort of sectioned off which helps you find quiet areas and areas for young kids. They all allow for at least a partial view of the ocean and beach. 2. The service: contrary to what has been said, we found service in the restaurants, by the pool and all around great. Staff are very polite and want to help you. You could always find a waiter/waitress when sitting at the pool to take a food or drink order. 3. the food: we found the food here delicious. We enjoyed breakfast at Tico Tica. Their lunch menu had this amazing shrimp ceviche dish called shrimp cruda. I enjoyed it every day as a refreshing lunch. So fresh and delicious. The guacamole at Vida by the pool was so fresh and delicious. We had one dinner on property at La Finca and the food and service was wonderful. Their steak had this sauce that was out of this world. My daughter had a gluten allergy and they were able to provide her with GF pastries at breakfast and bread at dinner. Drinks were also delicious and my girls went crazy for their mocktails. 4. The room shower. Huge with two heads and a handheld. 5. Gym was nice. 6. Every time we called for a golf cart to pick us up it arrived in a timely manner and when we are off property they would have our renal waiting. Cons: 1. We arrived at the hotel at 6p and our room wasn’t ready. However, they said it would be in a half hour and it was. They offered us a free drink at the bar but at that point ai wanted a shower. 2. Finding shade by the pool. If you found chairs with an umbrella it was wonderful but you had to wake up super early and I think people may have even claimed some the night before. Luckily my husband gets up early and snagged shaded seats every morning at 5:30am but two of the days our chairs had to be separate because of it. 3. If you have mobility issues this layout would be tough. Our room was in casa 4, the highest up on the property. Lots of walking and shortcuts using other buildings elevators to “jump tiers.” 4. Beach was fine but if you prefer to lay out by the beach (which we prefer pool) I could see being disappointed. A bit small, jet skis and some locals can make it not feel as peaceful but still the water was beautiful and there were some lounge chairs under some trees to sit on. We had a great time and truly enjoyed ourselves.
