This place was the ideal break from my busy American life. Myself and a girlfriend selected this hotel based on the small size and the solitude it seemed to promise, and it delivered. • Guests at Jardín Del Edén Boutique Hotel - Adults Only say: I’m a little late submitting this, but my husband and I stayed at Jardín del Edén the first week of January this year for a weeklong getaway. It is an adults-only property, which even though I have kids myself I thoroughly enjoyed not having kids on property. The resort is small and quaint, and very quiet, which was a big shift for me as I usually book large resorts, but it was a delightful change. THE FOOD We went down to the restaurant for breakfast every morning, where they had an egg/omelette station, fresh fruit, pastries , yogurts, and some hot dishes. They also had fresh juices and the green juice was absolutely divine! I almost bought a juicer when I got home because of it! Then after breakfast, we would either walk the beach or find a spot at the property’s beachside lawn. For lunch every day, we walked to the beach and ate at beachfront restaurants. And at the end of the day we’d head back and get ready for dinner at the hotel restaurant. We did eat both breakfast and lunch there every day and it was delicious! Every meal we had for dinner was fantastic and no meal was the same for all 7 days. I think my husband was getting a bit tired of beef but he’s the one that kept ordering it. Lol The way the dinner works is they offer 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert - I’ve included some pictures of the form and some dishes. During breakfast, they give you a menu and you just write your room number and reservation time then select 1 app and 1 entree per person, then desert is automatic. I truly can’t remember the cost of the adult beverages, but I don’t remember thinking it was any worse than any other resort in any other destination. All the drinks were really good and had adequate pours. THE RESORT The hotel rooms were nice. We were on the 2nd floor and the bellmen carried our luggage up the steps. I reserved an ocean view room, and all that meant was you could see a little sliver of the water from above the tree line, and I figured this was going to be the case since it’s not ocean front, but I like being up higher so I have a nicer/longer field of view when sitting on the balcony with my morning coffee. Our balcony was private so neighboring guests weren’t subject to my bead head and pjs. A squirrel did almost scare the life out of me one morning though. 😂 🐿️The bathroom was small but perfectly functional, and the shower had plenty of room. I felt that the bed and pillows were comfortable - my husband and I both slept fine. We had great wifi and plenty of tv channels. The hotel grounds were immaculately kept and you felt like you were in a jungle paradise right in the middle of town. We spent a good bit of time down at the beachside lawn, which was great because we could leave all of our things at our beach chairs and go get in the ocean without having to worry about our things walking off. And of course, there is a bar and restrooms down at the lawn, and you could also order lunch down there. To get to the lawn, you walk down a pathway to the street, cross the street and use your room key to open a gate, and you are there. Maybe 5 minutes max? There were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas both at the pool near the hotel rooms and at the beach side lawn the whole week - we never had to wait for a chair at either location even after lunch. I’ll also add here that I saw howler monkeys during yoga two different days, and walking down the pathway to the street once. And I heard them every morning from my balcony. I heard them before I ever saw them and was shocked that they were so small because they sound like they should be the size of gorillas. 😂 ACTIVITIES We took advantage of the resort offerings. We made our way to the spa 3 times for couples massages. There’s only one spa “room” which is a curtained off hut of sorts right next to the pool. But we had no problems getting reservations while we were there. I did book our first massages in advance but the others were reserved once on-site. Clearly, the massages were amazing or we wouldn’t have kept going back. I also took a couple yoga classes, a meditation class and a sound healing class which was really cool. All classes were held in a back section of the restaurant. We also connected with the concierge who set us up on a sunset snorkel sail and an eco tour of the mangroves. Both tours were great, low-key and exactly what they said they would be with transportation included. The catamaran we took looked brand new and the drinks flowed the whole time. The snorkeling wasn’t great but we had a great time. The eco tour was given by a second generation guide who was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out all the different birds, crocs, and took us back on foot to see howler monkeys. Both tours were excellent in their own way. The beach was also nice - there were lots of people but not crowded. Low tide goes out realllly far but high tide comes almost to the entrances of the hotel gates and the restaurants’ beachside entrances, so what wasn’t busy because of all the space at low tide gets really compacted by the time high tide arrives. THE PEOPLE All the people we came across, both employees and guests, were delightful. The hotel staff at the front desk, concierge, spa, restaurant, bar - all top notch and always willing to help. Same for the tour operators - excellent service. In summary, this was a fabulous boutique resort that was within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and the beach but felt like a tropical oasis. It was an excellent value given the breakfast and lunch were included. The service was excellent and we got the relaxing vacation we were looking for. Next time, I think we would split our trip between the volcanoes and the beach, but we were looking for rest and relaxation this trip and that is exactly what we got. I would, without a doubt, recommend Jardin del Eden for a couples trip.
