I like the place although the room I had was not the largest. Despite there being enough space there was no table and chair to work on so I had to sit on the floor with a tiny table from outside to use my laptop on. It gets cool enough at night so the ceiling fan is adequate during the daytime. It is very nice to be able to stay on site to be ready for all the activities offered. I was there for birds & they did not disappoint in that regard. My room (#10) has the best view of all, looking over the hummingbird garden & off into the distance where I saw Toucans, Parrots & some raptors. A morning guided walk included many bird sightings, some of which were not that common. I did not realize that there is only a one way road from the highway down 1.4 kms to reception & the rooms. They use radios to arrange who can come or go at a time so there is no driving around the property, nor can you drive right to the rooms. So my rental car sat parked for 4 days. I could have gone out I guess, but there was really no need. It seems to be a place folks only visit on a day basis, being bused down from the highway & back when they have had enough fun. As far as things to do, it was great, with guides available almost anytime required and lots of trails to walk on, although guides are required after 5:30pm I think due to snake risk. There was a Fer de Lance snake right by the butterfly garden one afternoon and the staff had put up warning tape to alert folks. The tram to the top of the mountain was interesting as was my guided walk up there one morning; highlight being a Red-capped Manakin after we got back down. The restaurant was OK with service being a bit slow at times even when there was nobody around but me. Food was fine; to order breakfast & dinner, with a good selection of items. There was a Tapir with a "baby" that hangs around the area that was very interesting to see and get photos of. They didn't care about the people around & slowly walked by on several occasions. Hence the resort name I guess.

It is much more isolated than I thought it would be, which turned out to be a good thing. My son liked the “forest fuzzies”. We saw a tapir, toucan, coatimundi and other cool animals The restaurant was great, which is lucky, because it’s the only food for 30 min. Also the only place for potable water, so bring waterbottles! Jonathan in the restaurant is awesome It was bare bones but sitting on the porch completely surrounded by the rainforest was amazing. We did the aerial tram but weren’t able to do the nature walks because of the pouring rain (it’s the *rain*forest, folks) It was so quiet and peaceful. Everyone on the staff was helpful, even pointing out animals when you’re just sitting in the restaurant.
