My wife and I were looking forward to our return to Jaco and Diamante del Sol. The unit we had rented during our last visit was no longer available so we opted for 602N. Sadly, there was no comparison. There are both pros and cons to this unit and I will address them below. Pros: The location of Diamante del Sol is perfect. On the beach, close to downtown (but not too close). The views from the condos are magnificent. The pool is wonderful and well maintained. The staff and security personnel were courteous. The unit, 602N, is spacious and clean (as in housekeeping had cleaned thoroughly). The furniture was comfortable though some of the cabinetry could use touchup. The king bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was adequately equipped. Cons: Upon entering the condo the smell of mold and mildew was almost overwhelming. After a thorough airing the smell subsided to a tolerable level. The second bedroom (twin beds) never lost the mildew smell. Mold (possibly black) was evident in a few places. In some places it appeared as though the mold had been painted over but is again showing. As noted in other reviews some of the air conditioning units still leak. The split in the bedroom was dripping throughout our visit. The main unit also occasionally dripped. This may have been caused by condensation and was not a huge issue, though annoying. Mold was evident around the main unit. Water stains in the ceiling were evident (especially in the entry hall). The shower in the main bedroom (king bed) bath needs some work. There are anchors for a towel bar in the shower but no towel bar. Not a huge deal but it would have been nice to have a place for washcloths etc. The shower head needs, at the very least, to be cleaned. Preferably it should be replaced. Clogged nozzles makes the shower sketchy at best. The bedroom definitely needs heavy curtains to block out the light from the common area entrances. The lights are on all night and it looks like daylight in the bedroom. While we love the views from the patio and the spacious layout of the condo, we will not rent 602N again. The major concern is the mold. Long term it could be detrimental to health.
