We stayed at the Belmar for three nights and had a great time there. It is under Marriott, so we actually used Bonvoy points for the stay. The room was clean with turndown service. Each night, a small local gift was given after turndown service. It was a nice touch. The staff at the hotel are friendly. They speak English. The atmosphere of the hotel was great. The view from our room was the garden, lake, and further was mountains and the Pacific Ocean. We saw hummingbirds right outside of our room every day and also saw a coati too. You can also hear and see many other birds from the patio. There are three restaurants on site. We ate in the main restaurant, Celajes, twice. Food was pretty good and the overall view and experience were great. We had coffee in the Juice room. The coffee and pastry (a cookie) were just so-so, but the price is very fair ($6 for two coffees and a cookie). We did not try the brewery. We also booked two experiences from the hotel, Farm to Table to Farm and Nightfall. It is much easier to book these experiences using WhatsApp than email. Farm to Table started with a visit to the farm Finca Madre Tierra, which is about 20 min away from the hotel (they supply ingredients to the hotel's restaurant). We walked around the garden of the farm, picked things from the garden both in the farm and in the hotel (carrots, cherry tomatos, basil, eggplants, kale, lettuce, etc.) that we would like to eat for lunch, learned how they grow things there and how they compost, made sugarcane juice, visited the chicken coop, and learned how they made cheese and smoke cheese. The smoked cheese was one of my favorites. They sent fresh cheese and smoked cheese back with us for lunch. We then came back to the hotel in the area of the garden. We had our own chef who cooked four course meal for us using the ingredients we picked and waiter who made three drinks for us and served the food. The experience just kept building. It was wonderful! Nightfall experience gave us the real rainforest experience. It is in the Savia reserve that is part of the hotel. It was a short 5min drive from the hotel lobby to the entrance of the Savia reserve. We walked in the rain to the suspension bridge and got on the treetop. From the treetop, we then did the rope descent to drop down to the ground. It was a overall wonderful experience. The only thing that was a little disappointing was we really did not get to see many animals during the trip. I was hoping to see a sloth, glass frog, etc. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Belmar.

Amazing place, we highly recommended! The restaurant staff is attentive and accommodating. They go the extra mile for every request. They helped us get the same table for dinner every night and helped us with pre orders and special requests. The front desk and concierge are responsive and knowledgeable. Trip planning was smooth. The drivers were prompt, friendly, and courteous.

Stay was amazing. Grounds were impeccable, as was the room, restaurant and brewery. Did not make it to the farm as we did other amazing activities to keep us busy. Best of all was the staff, from Eduardo, the friendliest and hardworking hotel porter in Costa Rica, to the incredible front desk staff and servers at the restaurants and brewery, everyone had huge smiles and were super attentive to our every need. And as our Spanish was in poco, they all spoke excellent English. The restaurant, Celajes, served the best food we’ve had in Costa Rica and at reasonable prices. And their on premises brewery was a special treat - serving a half dozen homemade brews and served the best ‘bar’ food I’ve ever had! If sustainability is important to you, this places goes above and beyond to be environmentally friendly. But if comfort is your thing, you would think you’re staying at a five star resort. My wife and I can’t recommend this place enough.

“Gorgeous, green and cozy.”

Wonderful, green, cultivated delectable cuisine. Be sure and take in the farm visit! We loved our tour with Constantine!
