This incredible gem is located in the rainforest, on a small hill overlooking the ocean. The views are absolutely spectacular. It’s a steep five minute walk up the hill from your boat if you are coming by boat, which many people are. All meals are provided on site by a wonderful kitchen and staff. We found the food and wonderful honestly. Be sure to try the ambrosia pasta. We lived in Italy for a year and a half, and this was as good or better than anything that we experienced in Italy. The hotel arranges for excursions, and we did the jungle walk plus a snorkeling trip to the nearby island. We loved watching a pair of macaws eating from a tree, just 10 feet from the dining lodge, which is open air at the center of the property.. And a pair of toucans also made a daily appearance. We did one long adventure each morning left very early, coming back at about 2 PM. Spent the rest of the day resting and relaxing on the property. Can’t recommend it or highly. It is a bit far off the beaten path, so be prepared for some long travel times to get here.

Screened cabin overlooking the ocean with the wild surrounding us! I loved waking before dawn to watch the morning sky become light and come alive from my bed! Birds singing, flying by, jungle sounds. At the restaurant , cool breezes as we watched the birds, trees and flowers around us, aided by the kind and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful food, Beach swim, day at the Corcovado park, time away to unplug. We returned after 22 yrs away, when it was the only place, and it remains with us as a special memory of an unspoiled natural world.

“If you are a lover of nature, you need to stay here.”

I can't recommend this place enough. I can't recommend this place enough. We were so lucky to get to connect with one of the owners son at this beautiful lodge and it was truly one of the best highlights of our entire 2 month in Costa Rica. If you love nature and being immersed in the jungle energy, you need to stay at this place. Everything about this spot was magical and the whole staff that works there were some of the kindest folks we met during out trip! This is truly a little paradise all in its own.

We loved our time at Punta Marenco. LGBT friendly, great vegetarian options, organized tours through the hotel and delicious pina coladas that we enjoyed every night. The staff were very warm and friendly. The food was so fresh and we liked that there were several vegetarian options. The property is beautiful-- situated in a nature reserve, our room looked out over the ocean and we could hear the waves and all the other wildlife sounds at night. We really enjoyed the basically private beach that you can walk down to from the property, and we appreciated that the hotel coordinated our tours to Corcovado National Park as well as snorkelling/scuba diving. We stayed for 3 nights and were really happy with that amount of time. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Drake Bay!
