“Fabulous hotel surrounded by wildlife”

What a special hotel! The welcome on checkin was warm and we were given a short tour of the hotel as we were brought to our lovely room which stretched from the front to the back of the hotel and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the surrounding forest. We stayed here 5 nights and were blown away by the variety of wildlife we saw while relaxing by the pool! We saw howler, squirrel and capuchin monkeys, aguti, scarlet macaws, yellow throated toucans, hummingbirds and of course the roadside hawk. Breakfast was made to order ranging from gallo pinto, huevos rancheros and pancakes and was excellent every morning! They don’t do food otherwise but recommended a local restaurant - a 5minute walk away with Tico style food but also burgers and even sushi- which could also do delivery. We opted to eat there twice and the food and atmosphere were excellent. The only downside to the hotel was the road noise- but as it is on the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio this meant getting to these towns was quick and easy!

I absolutely loved my stay at Plaza Yara. It truly feels like a boutique hotel: medium-sized, modern, colorful, with cold tile floors and vibrant mosaic walls—perfectly suited to a tropical beach destination. The rooms are spacious, and I stayed in one with a balcony overlooking the forest, which was wonderful. In the inner courtyard, there are lounge beds where you can relax, observe the forest, and watch the wildlife that appears—I even saw a white-faced monkey. The same relaxing atmosphere extends to the pool area. All the staff members are kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel also works with excellent partners, including very good restaurants and reliable tour agencies, which makes planning activities easy. At first, I was unsure about the location, as it sits between Manuel Antonio and Quepos. However, this is typical for the area—everything is spread along the road and on the hills. I didn’t have a car and initially worried about getting around, but it turned out to be very easy. In addition to Uber, there is a bus line every 15–20 minutes that takes you to the beach or Manuel Antonio National Park. It’s simple, inexpensive, and safe.
