I have been the brunt of unfair, untrue reviews myself and would never do that to anyone. My goal is to provide you with the info you need to know what to expect if you chose to stay here. We chose this location based on price, amenities promised, and proximity to the local attractions. We did book through a different travel site and communicated with the host through that app. He was very accommodating and even agreed to come meet us to help guide us to the hotel. I’m glad he did because we would have had a hard time finding it otherwise. The entrance is in a housing development not on the main road and really has no view to speak of (so if that is important to you, this isn’t the place for you.) The host was very kind and welcomed us to the hotel. The only small problem was that there are only 2 parking spots within the gated enclosed parking garage and there are 4 suites. We would have to park on the street... So we did with no incident. I saw from the description that there is an elevator, we did not see one and to be honest we did not ask him for it. To get to the suites is ALOT OF STAIRS (>25)...not a problem if you are able bodied. A lot of stairs to carry your things up but we were game for the challenge and did so. Everyone around here walks so might as well get used to it. Very nice breezy courtyard/common area where the rocking chairs are with very nice plants but no real view of anything but the side street as I said above. When we were let in here’s our impression: The home is VERY clean but... The lighting is very poor, you cannot see in the main bathroom if you want to apply makeup... There is 1 and 1/2 baths... if you are traveling with associates it would be uncomfortable sharing the suite we were in because there is only one bathroom that has a shower. The photo shows a full sized refrigerator and a stove/oven....not here. There is only a Small dormitory refrigerator on a table, a propane tank and 3 burners, no stove. The Sofa in the main area is in disrepair. Definitely can’t sleep on it. It is a 3 cushion sofa, but you can only sit on the right side or the left side...the middle sinks a good 3 inches lower than the right or the left, definitely worn and should be replaced to be called a sofa. The WI-FI is great, the rocking chairs and table/pool table pictured are outside in a common area (which is fine). ALL of the windows in the suite are directly in view of common areas (outside the suite common areas) but there are curtains etc... so you have to choose decreased lightIng or get seen by anyone in the “courtyard” where the rocking chairs and pool table are, or on the stairs outside the bedrooms or bathrooms. Main bathroom is very nice and very clean just not well lighted. The common area is very dim and considering the sun goes down around 5:45...you spend the evening in very dim lighting. The A/C is fine and the beds are comfortable enough. There is hot water in the shower, just not in the sinks. (I’ve been told by those living here it is thought that hot water is unnecessary for washing, so I appreciated hot water in the shower even if it isn’t elsewhere.). The cook top works fine. There are plates, knives, forks etc. Suite as I said very clean and smells fine (no orders/mildew etc) even though this is a very damp place. Overall, this hotel is very worth the price. Only 10-15 min from the beach/park area if you drive. There is a store within walking distance...again you have to be able bodied, and the host is very nice.. The area seems to be safe...many people and children walking even at night. There were many loose dogs around, but all were well mannered, non-aggressive, even friendly, and healthy looking. The neighbors and neighborhood were friendly and quiet and I never felt unsafe at all. While I might not stay here again for the reasons stated above, it is a clean safe place to stay within reasonable distance of the things to do in Manuel Antonio. Hope this helps.
