Me, my husband and 15 year old daughter spent a week here at autumn half term. I decided to blow my usual budget and I booked the two bedroom apartment with kitchenette, seating area and sea view balcony with hot tub. As this was pricey, I had high expectations and I was not disappointed. The apartment was very large, bright and airy, clean and contemporary in design. The kitchenette had a hob, (no oven) fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and sink and was fully equipped with cutlery, crockery etc. The main bedroom had a large bathroom with shower and tub, and its own balcony, the second bedroom had a shower room and also its own balcony. The hot tub was great! Amphoras Garden hotel is attached to the rear of the Amphora Hotel (reviews of this hotel are rather mixed) and access to Amphoras Garden is through reception of Amphora Hotel. Our apartment had a partial sea view (partly blocked by Amphora Hotel which is taller than Amphoras Garden) and there is a construction site on the seafront, no work was taking place during our stay so no noise just not the most beautiful view. Obviously this is out of the control of the hotel. There is a rooftop pool (drained down as out of season) and we were able to use the gym and indoor pool, sauna etc in the Amphora Hotel, these are very good, gym very well equipped and pool large enough to actually swim in. We found the WiFi worked ok and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was fine, but other than that we didn’t eat in the hotel. This hotel is in the brand new Znjan area of Split. It’s very clean and fresh with a lovely wide prom for walking, running, cycling, roller blading etc, although it could be seen as a bit characterless because of its newness. There are a few beach bar/restaurants close to the hotel which seem to serve mainly pizzas and burgers. For traditional food head to Makedonska Kuca (Macedonian Kitchen) a 5 euro Uber trip away, or half hour walk. Location of this hotel might be regarded by some as sub optimal as the old town is about three miles away walking along the seafront. Allow an hour for this walk. We used Uber to get around, it cost about 6 euros to the old town. There is a very inconvenient road closure near this hotel which means you have to drive a long way round. The bus timetable they gave us at reception was wrong because of this. The normal bus (number 15) is on diversion and isn’t running past the hotel. You have to get the number 14 and change. Better to use Uber. We hired a car for part of our holiday, there is a charge to park in the underground car park of the hotel, but there is plenty of spaces for free outside on the road or even bump up the kerb onto the construction site. Overall a good stay and would recommend.
