“Lovely hostel”

Went to this hostel while interrailing, and was absolutely delighted by the lovely hostel that awaited. The staff were extremely welcoming, rooms clean and the bathroom & kitchen were spacious and tidy. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Split on a budget

Booked a private double room via HostelWorld. Upon arrival we were given a fantastic 2-bedroom apartment with its own kitchen and bathroom facilities. The hosts were extremely friendly, giving us some fab recommendations and talking to us about the city for some time, as well as looking after our bags after we had checked out. We would definitely visit again and highly recommend it

“Solid experience”

Honestly speaking, the only thing we were looking for is a few modest beds where we can stay the night. Sleeping is basically the only thing we were interested in our Split apartment which is why Nikolla seemed like the perfect spot. Great reviews on Tripadvisor and humbe pricetag. Honestly speaking, the only thing we were looking for is a few modest beds where we can stay the night. Sleeping is basically the only thing we were interested in our Split apartment which is why Nikolla seemed like the perfect spot. Great reviews on Tripadvisor and humbe pricetag. The expectations weren't big but, at the end of the day, they were fullfilled and I guess that's what matters the most. This place is nothing special but it gets the job done!

“Average at Best ”

My friend and I booked into Hostel Nikolla using HostelWorld. After reading fantastic reviews on both HostelWorld and TripAdvisor we decided to move forward with the booking as it seemed great value. We booked a private airport transfer from the airport to the Hostel through the Hostel Nikolla itself, which worked out perfect, as we NEVER would have found this place on our own. When we arrived we were confused as to who to speak to, since there were two men sitting in the common area, but not offering welcoming words and no one behind what we thought was reception. Turns out the two guys were simply other guests also awaiting some help. A woman came down the stairs and when we asked to check in she told us our room was not ready but we could leave our luggage and come back in an hour, which was no big deal as we needed lunch anyway. When we returned we met another young girl, who sat us down and showed us the map of the area and offered us to our room. I will stop here and say that this young (mid-20's) professional girl who works 2pm-10pm was the only real excellence I can point out in the place...she was wonderful. She showed us to our "private apartment," which she explained as almost an upgrade. It was located across the street from the actual property, through a gate, past/through someone else's front porch area. When we walked in we were confused about the pictures we had seen in other reviews and how this place looked nothing like them whatsoever. The entire place was out-dated. While it appeared clean, it was not what we had expected. However, not planning on doing much other than sleep there we moved past it. Next day we spent entire day on a tour and when we returned to the apartment we were met with a handful of 16-25 year old men boxing and listening to music in the front of the home attached to our apartment (which you have to walk through to access it). I of course understand that this is their property and I do not commend this activity whatsoever as they stopped when we walked through the gate and even said hello, BUT it took us off guard and if I had been traveling alone I am not sure I would have felt 100% safe at this. The noise went on until the late hours of the night, and with windows closed could still hear it all. It was our last day where my eyes were open to this property. We went across the street to the wonderful young girl to pay our balance and many of the Hostel patrons were outside together sharing a few drinks. Two of the apartment doors were wide open and at a glimpse inside each I was shocked we were staying at the "same" property. Their rooms looked very modern, super nice, and they were located in the heart of the property so they had the real Hostel experience of meeting others from around the world. I feel like we had a completely different experience than those staying at the same time and those who wrote past reviews. The pros of this place is great location and the girl we were dealing with there, plus for the meager price we paid it was a decent bed to lay our head down at night. The cons include feeling as though you're trespassing on someone's property to reach your own, being secluded across the street, not up to date/modern, and SUPER tiny shower.
